Neotech Tuba Harness
The Tuba Harness conforms to the shape of your body and evenly disperses the weight of the instrument. The cushion stays just where you need it most-no matter the amount of moving and grooving you make while playing. The self-adjusting harness freely glides through the hardware located in the back which increases your mobility without sacrificing comfort.
Neotech's Tuba Harness is designed with both men and women in mind to arrive at the most comfortable fit.
Available in Regular and X-Long sizes, plus the Junior size which is great for younger players and for adults playing the Baritone or Euphonium! (Size measurements are approximately from top of shoulder to connector hooks where either the cradle or loops attach to the main harness.)
The length can be adjusted using the triglide connectors on either side of the harness.
The harness also offers an upper support strap for added stability. This strap can be connected to either the right or left side of the harness depending on the player’s preference.
Connection Option #1: Cradle System
The 'cradle' is used for the lower section of the instrument and is made of a unique wrap support. It is covered in a nonmarring material to protect against abrasion to the tuba’s finish. This option is ideal for tubas that do not have an attachment eyelet located on the lower section of the tuba. Watch the video to learn more about setting up the cradle attachment.
Connection Option #2: Loop Connectors
The loop connectors can be attached directly to the eyelet located on the lower section of some tubas. These loops then attach to the snap hooks on the main body of the Neotech Tuba Harness.

One thing not mentioned by other reviewers is the size of the tuba. For example 4/4 tubas vary a lot in height. Mine is a Hirsbrunner 4/4 BBb horn. It is shorter and wider than a kaiser-style tuba (Miraphone 186 and many others). Horns made by most good companies (Adams, B&S, Hirsbrunner, Miraphone, Meinl, and others) can come in either configuration. I don't know if the junior size harness will fit by Hirsbrunner but I do know that the regular size is too long. Frustrating!
So after writing this review, I decided to try the straps that go on the bottom bow as opposed to those that go on the tuba loops. This worked better but it is still a difficult job to make a fit. In all I spent 3 hours trying to make this harness work. If I was a leather worker, I would customize a harness to use the 4 loops on my tuba and have it fit me exactly.
I settled on purchasing this Neotech Harness and have been very satisfied and relieved ever since. There were no written instructions received with the strap, only a couple of pictures. This should be corrected. Some simple instructions would be sufficient. So figuring out how to set it up was a bit tricky initially but after that I have had no problems with this harness.
The harness is well designed to distribute the weight of the instrument evenly across your shoulders and upper back as it supports the tuba from the large bend at the bottom (playing position) and one of the bends near the valves. It is very comfortable as I can stand or march and paly for long periods with this harness. Most likely I will buy another one as a spare.
I Have a JZ400 C tuba and it fits perfectly. THERE WILL BE SOME TRIAL AND ERROR! Everyone is built differently and It took me a couple of trys to get the best fit ( This is vital for me because I practice standing up alot AND I'm 6 foot 9). It took me several tries to get the right fit.
Also if you think it should be super tight you thought wrong. If the harness were to fit tightly you would have NO room to (#1) breath correctly and (#2) bring the horn to your face! As a tubist I had the mindset that it would fit like a saxophones harness but this is very ignorant. All harnesses don't fit the same.
Pros: This makes my horn feel weightless! I can practice for several hours without my arm getting tired etc! It it very fun to stand up and maneuver with my horn.
The stitching is VERY stable and if I were to let go of my horn it would sit in midair until I picked it up again. ( No that is not irresponsible. I wanted to know if this product works or not!) So if you're wondering wether you can drop your instrument with this product NO YOU WON'T! It will catch it for you!
If you are worrying about the size.... I would get the regular for starters. I am 6 foot 9 inches and the regular size fits me perfectly. (Take in consideration that I have a loooonnngggg torso.) So if I were you get the regular and adjust to comfort. Then if it's to large get the Junior size.
The product seems of good quality, and there’s a lot of options to harness it seems like, but I couldn’t figure out how to use it on either of my tubas.
