If only I could find more of those great little water pumps that go on the motor....
oh yeah, the review.
The gun itself is real fun. I was kinda sad to take it apart. lol I bought a second set for a kid's bday party. They had fun with them and would just plunge the end in the pool to fill them up. The motor and it's electronics are VERY secure...trust me. They were difficult to get out of their waterproof casing. So no worries there. So definitely buys these for a simple fun game of water guns without the huge mess of a super soaker giant water cannon... and they're good for parts too!
But for occasionally shooting it at your cat for discipline, it works very well. He won't stop getting on the counter-tops and the tables in the kitchen, chewing on the blinds and rods, chewing on wire cables (when he -knows- he's not allowed and is being naughty, but doesn't listen and goes right back to it) but he definitely responds to an accurate blast of room temperature water.
Best part is, he seems to be doing naughty things less, so it appears to be working as I'd hoped. He has also learned what the phrase "go get the water gun" means, and stops before you can shoot. :p
I would like to see a version where when you squeeze the trigger it automatically shoots a nice long stream, but then you have to squeeze the trigger again. In other words a semi-auto version. That would help with the 2 year old as she runs up to somebody and squirts, but when they squirt back she runs away squealing while holding the trigger down and soaking the ground along the way.
The one real criticism I have is the water filling feature. You have a nice large knob to unscrew, but ultimately plastic threads, which will likely get cross threaded as a young inpatient kid tries to screw it back on. Some sort of nipple where the kids can just press that opening onto a nozzle on the hose would get a ton of mileage.
My cat on the other hand, absolutely hates it. Since I've gotten this water gun the cat has learned that while I'm home he can't walk around on the counter tops, or claw the couch. The only drawback is it didn't come with an automated "cat-defense" robot to patrol the house while I'm out or at work.
On a more serious note, this is a pretty great-cheap gun to use if you want to send a simple message to your feline compatriot. The only down side is the small size of the water container, and the fact that you need 4 AA batteries to power it. I don't know that much about energy demands for water guns, but 4 AA batteries seems absolutely insane. Otherwise, it's a great gun.
The device initially was very sluggish. I think the plastic parts just needed to be worked for a while. After 10 minutes it seemed to work perfectly. It squirts a small amount of water with high velocity. It also holds very little water so you aren't going to conquer Waterloo with this one.
The good news is that it is effective without trashing the inside of the house and you don't need to pump it as it runs on batteries.
It feels very solid, it doesn't leak.
The bad news is that it holds very little water and the motor noise is distinctive enough to be recognized. Some squirt guns that run on pressure are much quieter.

It's being returned now.
With new batteries it's lucky if it shoots
between 15-20 ft at best. Very disappointed with this purchase.Read more
