From the manufacturer
Thanks to its compact dimensions, the Pixie coffee maker fits in any kitchen and is available in a wide range of colors and 2 finishes. Only 4.3 inches wide, it uses hardly any space and is perfect for smaller urban kitchens.
Espresso and Lungo
The one-touch buttons with two cup capacities (Espresso and Lungo) can be reprogrammed to custom volumes and are backlit for ease of use. The folding drip tray accommodates differing cup sizes for espresso and milk coffee lovers alike.
High pressure pump
The 19 bar high-pressure pump allows for a barista-style result, unlocking the delicate flavor and premium aromas of each coffee capsule during the brewing process and creating an incomparably dense and unctuous crema. The fast heat-up system reaches the ideal temperature in just 25 seconds.
Empty water tank alert
Red backlights along the sides of the machine light up to alert you when you need to refill the water tank. With the automatic power-off function, the machine turns off 9 minutes after the last use, consuming less energy.
Each machine includes a welcome set with 16 capsules containing individual aromas. Try each Grand Cru to find your favorites.
Nespresso capsule system
The Nespresso capsule system delivers exceptional taste and unique aromas thanks to the preparation of high-quality coffees in hermetically sealed and recyclable aluminium capsules for coffee enjoyment at the highest level.

The machine takes seconds to warm up and about 20 seconds to pump out a glorious, frothy espresso. It came with a large sampler pack in which I honestly did not find one that I didn't like. I saw a decaf espresso in the mix, to which I mocked, but then one night when I was chilled to the bone I popped that decaf in and no longer had any harsh feelings against such an idea.
I had to call customer support (which was top notch) once when the light was flashing as if the reservoir was empty, but it wasn't. She told me to wash out the reservoir and fill it with fresh water. She was right. She even waited on the line while I washed it out to make sure it was okay. Simplest fix ever. It is just a sensitive machine. She said she has never had to send in a Pixie for repairs for a sensor or light malfunction. FYI: She said the red light will most likely stay on if you are using Reverse Osmosis water because it doesn't recognize it - but it will still work.
The Aeroccino frother is nothing short of incredible. It's completely silent and the most intuitive design ever. It is beautifully crafted: the exterior and interior are super heavy stainless steel and it uses strong magnets to hold one whisk on the bottom (in the use position) and one under the top for storage (so you don't lose it). Genius. I froth coconut beverage in it and it always end up with a nice foamy top. I've also frothed coconut creamer and canned lite coconut milk; all with the same results. You can froth warm or cold in less than 1 minute. Simply incredible.
So, for those of you who want your espresso habit to be a little less work and a little less messy without sacrificing quality - the Pixie is your partner.
It took me a while to figure out what works best for the latte flavor I was looking for. (Some may be critical of this, but I like Starbucks - a short 8 oz. double latte.) I find that a strong roast, like Ristretto, made with the Lungo setting works well for me.
I really like the Aeroccino as well. It doesn't scorch (unlike another brand I tried - I can't remember what brand it was though.) At first the milk didn't seem hot enough, but I got used to it and I enjoy it now. The steaming attachment gives me a nice small layer of foam, rather than mostly foam like the frothing attachment gives. Unlike what other reviews I read said, I find that nonfat milk gives the most and tightest foam. I love that the attachments are held on by magnets - they have never come off, so they are hard to lose.
Pods are easy to order online or by phone, cost 70 to 80 cents, and arrive within 2 business days. To reduce my guilt, I ship my used pods back to Nespresso for recycling using the postage-paid UPS envelopes that I order from them for free on their website.
My only issue with this product is the milk frother - I know Nespresso have been receiving feedback for YEARS that the milk frother begins to burn around the frothing insert after a number of uses and can sometimes malfunction, causing the red light to flash, but to date I've not heard anything about the issue being rectified and the design has not changed. I had this issue with my last Pixie (which I bought 5 years ago), and now 5 months into using my new one it's happening again. Would love to hear a comment on the design or feedback on how to prevent this. At this rate, I'll probably buy another brand machine compatible with Nespresso pods next time, given there is so much competition in this market.
