No doubt if you choose to grind/roast/grow your own beans you can make better espresso, but for the rest of us the quality is near perfection.
The only issue I have is that you are limited in the height of a cup you can fit under the spout. A standard coffee cup fits fine, but if you want to use anything that is much taller, then most cups do not fit - and I prefer to use the espresso capsules to make a big cup. Even my shortest non-coffee cups do not fit unless I jam them in at an angle. An extra 1/4" of height would be nice....
Oh, and buy your capsules from Nespresso.com. The Amazon.com merchants are reselling genuine capsules at a significant markup. Each capsule is somewhere around 50c or so each and while that is not cheap, it is not bad for me. Not mentioned in the product description is you get an assortment of 16 capsules, so you can decide what you like before you place an order.
edit: Maximum cup height; about 3.25"
While there in our room in Cancun, I ordered this one online at Amazon so it would be at our door when we returned from vacation. We just got back and are loving it! Now why only 4 stars with this glowing review? Just a caution: I THOUGHT I was buying the same model as was in our room. While it brews the same, the difference is, the one in our room had TWO buttons for brewing - one to brew a small cup, and one adds more water to brew a big cup. The hotel room model just said "Essenza" and it seemed that was the only choice online.Read more ›
Overall, great quality and pricing. Recommended.
Cons - A bit slow. Cartridges are too expensive. Inadequate cup height.
What I do. Buy a package of 10 Espresso Cartridges for $5.00 at Bed Bath and Beyond. After using a cartridge, pop the top out of in and re-use it with finely ground coffee and an aluminum foil cover. The cartridges are good indefinitely.
No milk frother, but frothers have proved problematical to maintain/clean at work, and we gave up on them. So no capuccino, but hot milk I'm just as satisfied with hot milk.

I didn't like how you have to manually stop it. Other than that it worked fine.Published 2 months ago by BD
I have had this machine for going on 11 years. Nespresso doesn't even sell it anymore. It is simple and at the time, it was the cheapest machine they made. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Laura T.
This model has been discontinued by the manufacturer and I understand why. It didn't even work right out of the box. Supposedly it was brand new. Read morePublished 8 months ago by Cooper Griggs
