Two cup sizes
One convenient machine for two cup sizes, 8 oz. Coffee and 1.35 oz. Espressso, via two different capsule sizes: large capsule for coffee and a small one for espresso. Each capsule delivers the finest roast and ground coffee sealed in a single serve portion for optimal freshness.
Centrifusion extraction technology
VertuoLine Evoluo coffee makers use a patented extraction technology developed by Nespresso known as Centrifusion. Just insert a capsule and close the lever - when activated, the capsule spins up to 7,000 rotations per minute, blending ground coffee with water and producing the perfect crema to enjoy your favorite freshly brewed coffee or authentic espresso.
Automatic blend recognition*
VertuoLine uses an intelligent extraction system that recognizes each Grand Cru blend. Thanks to a barcode on the rim of the capsule, the brewing parameters are adjusted by the machine depending on the selected Grand Cru. There is no need to change settings. This delivers the best in-cup result for your chosen variety – all at the touch of a button.

Top customer reviews
I've now tried 14 different brews, and I feel like the rating system Nespresso uses is really pretty accurate. There was one reviewer who said that it didn't matter, they are all too bold. I have to disagree, respectfully. I just had a cup of Intenso to start my morning. It is rated as a 9 on the scale of 1-11, and that is spot on...it's a dark, strong, bold, dense (their descriptive word) brew. Then I immediately brewed a cup of Elvazio, which is a 4. There is a VAST difference in intensity between these two. I always thought I liked the dark, bold coffees, but the Intenso is so intense that it will be reserved for the times when I "need" it. The mid-range brews are spot on perfect for drinking coffee all morning, or all day for me. One thing to note, and I haven't read any other reviews on this point...the way the machine brews the cup leaves more "dense" layers at the bottom of the cup, topping it with that beautiful layer of crema at the top. That crema layer looks fantastic, but give the cup a quick stir before you start drinking it, and the whole cup will taste better from beginning to end, unless you like changing flavor or intensity as you go. Either way is fine, it's just a matter of preference, and it's a delicious cup of coffee all the way to the bottom of the cup. Speaking of the bottom of the cup, I haven't had any grounds show up as I had happen from time to time with K-cups.
There is one drawback on the VertuoLine pods...and it's well known at this point, and I knew it before buying...the pods are expensive. It will cost more to brew one cup at home than it costs to run to MacDonald's for a cup of their large "gourmet" coffee (it is fairly good for a mass produced brew). At an average of $1.10 per pod, it is more than twice as expensive as any Keurig K-cup I ever came across. I am NOT complaining in the least here. I knew it going in, and I'm happy to buy more at this price. The coffee is that good! I have no problem with paying for a cup of coffee that worth the price paid (that McD's cup is not worth the penny-under-a-buck price when compared to what this machine brews), and this machine makes a cup of coffee that is worth the price paid. I thought nothing could be better than my Jura Impressa...but at 10% of the price of that machine (new), this Nespresso is capable of a better cup of coffee.
My review of this machine comes after three weeks of use and 55 cups of coffee.
My purchase came with the Vertuoline Evoluo machine, a milk frother, and some pods for sampling (8 coffee pods, and 4 espresso pods).
The Nespresso Vertuoline Evoluo brews with special Vertuoline pods -- there are Original Line pods (these are older and don't work with this machine), and the newer Vertuoline pods. When I was first researching which pods to buy, some places online don't seem to clearly indicate if they are the Original Pods or the Vertuoline pods, so that's something to keep in mind if you're shopping for them.
The main Nespresso machine is very simple. You fill the reservoir with water, place the pod in the machine and push 1 button. It scans the pod to know how to brew it (coffeee vs espresso), and within about 90 seconds your beverage is brewed. When you open the machine again (to put a new pod in) the used pod automatically falls in to a bin on the side of the machine for disposal later.
My first test was with one of the included coffee samples, and honestly, I was completely shocked at how good it was. Such a smooth, velvety texture... really delicious. Quite frankly I felt like I must have been doing something wrong when brewing my own coffee previously, because compared to that this is very clearly a far superior beverage than what I am used to. Again, I'm not a coffee snob, but as far as I'm concerned this produces superior coffee than what I am used to, even stuff I have gotten from coffee shops and restaurants, and I'm very pleased with it.
The milk frother is quite easy to use as well. Pour in some milk up to the fill line and push a button, less than 90 seconds later it's done. Very easy. I used it to make Cappucino with one of the sample espresso pods and it turned out great. The only just flat out negative thing I can say about this entire package is the milk frother could be easier to clean and have a better design. It's not hard to clean, just compared to the Nespresso machine which requires basically zero effort, the frother does require a little effort (rinsing out, washing with soap and water after each use). The whisk portion of the frother is very small and attaches magnetically (fairly weakly) and seems like it could fall off easily and be easy to lose. The frother is still a very nice machine and works well despite this concern.
- Looks nice, was worried it would look like cheap plastic based on photos I saw online, but it looks very nice in person
- Nearly effortless to use and maintain the Nespresso machine
- Brews excellent coffee and espresso
- Temperature is just right
- I'm used to drinking a little more coffee at a time and wish that it brewed larger cups. It fills my coffee cup (albeit a fairly large one, 14-16oz I think) a little more than half way. I guess I'll have to get used to "European" style. The old Senseo machine only brewed like 4 ounces of coffee so this is a step up from that I guess! UPDATE - I discovered that you can customize the brewing amount. It explains it in the instruction manual. My fault for not reading it...but you can fairly easily adjust how much it will brew.
- Milk frother whisks seem like they could be easy to lose
- Pods aren't available hardly anywhere. Online stores like Amazon have them listed, but all from 3rd party sellers with high markups. Nespresso's own web site seems to be the best place to get them but they have a minimum order of 50 at a time. You'll be looking at about a $50 bill every time you want to order coffee. I can't find them at any brick & mortar stores.
- Not a ton of variety with the pods that are available. It's all good for me, but compared to something like Keurig the selection seems pretty limited.
Overall, despite the cons listed above, I'm ecstatic with the purchase and would get one again in a heartbeat.
