The nice thing about NetGear, that I have not seen with other vendors, is that when you open the desktop shortcut to view all the modem settings, it automatically checks to see if you have the latest firmware version. If you don't it can auto download it, but THEN (rather than your spending hours unzipping and installing it) it self installs and let's you know when it's done. Man, that was nice and easy.
I would buy this router again and/or recommend it to a friend. Keep in mind that this router is for those that have DSL service. It is a combination of DSL modem and Router in one unit.
Also, when you go to administer the router it repeatedly ask for the credentials. I put in the correct credentials and the box just keeps popping up. Hit cancel a few times and the administration page appears.
Bottom Line - it's a great product! Set up was super easy, took all of 10 minutes, and everything was up and running. Great range, I was able to get 5 bars anywhere in my 2 story house. So far seems to be very stable, and faster than my old modem/router separates.
Overall, lots of Pros and no Cons from this reviewer. I'll update you in a couple of months.
Update 12/10 - Unit is absolutely perfect so far, no issues at all. Highly recommended.
The only problem is with Att you need to get info from them if you don't remember it. I had to call, but it wasn't bad. I told them the truth... After explaining my frustrations with their units and telling them I was staying with them as isp, the guy was very nice. He got me the info I needed. But don't expect them to help you troubleshoot or anything. I would suggest if you also have Att, that you call and get the info before you try and install this unit. It wasn't until after all this that I discovered you can reset your password on the phone without talking to a rep at all... As for the user name, it is usually just your email address with Att. Hopefully that will help out some people. Wish I'd have known that ahead of time. Anyway, Att partnered with this Netgear piece is a wonderful combo. So much faster. I tried a speed test and it took me from .78 mbps to 5.7 mbps. Best of all no drops yet! I look forward to watching Mlbtv through this unit come spring.
