It's an amazing medieval tale...that will sweep you away! It's filled with all kinds of emotion - sadness and joy - that will make you cry or laugh depending which scenes you are reading. A must-read for all historical lovers and fans of Ms. Le Veque's brave Knight's amorous adventures! She has woven a tale worthy of her talent and style of writing by offering a medieval adventure with rich characters! I loved her main characters Sir Keller de Poyer, an English knight, Chrystobel, a Welsh woman, and her sister, Izlyn. Ms. Le Veque nicely blended her personages into this high impact adventure filled with danger and intrigue! I am a huge Fan of this author and she never disappoints me.
Keller had always been known for his fairness and respect, but over time, he became a man with little emotion and was awkward with people. Chrystobel was living at Nether Castle with her sister Izlyn, her brother Gryffyn, and their father. This castle was holding dark secrets surrounding this family, so when Keller meets his future bride, he has a strange feeling that something is terribly wrong and the residents are quite terrified and threaten by something. Will he discover what is evil at Nether Castle? Why are the people terrified? Will Keller be able to protect them? If you love a story filled with lots of emotions that will make you remember the ways of life of women during medieval times, I highly recommend NETHERWORLD!
I loved this book! The story of the strong, introverted, and heartbroken knight Sir Keller de Poyer and the beautiful Lady Chrystobel was an emotional tale of two people who had experienced life's disappointments and even terrors, only to find a new beginning with each other. Keller was gifted a castle and lands, by his liege, William Marshall, and a contracted marriage to Chrystobel. Although not excited about the marriage, his feelings began to change as soon as he met the sweet young woman. But alas, evil and intrigue are afoot at the Castle of Nether in the form of Chrystobel's dark hearted brother, Gryffyn, who has different plans for everyone, and his plans do NOT include a HEA.
This is an enthralling plot with battles, and twists, and terrific characters. There are a group of knights, a lll intertwined from previous stories, who join Keller in the tale to overcome adversity and attempt to win the day. I had a terrific time reading this, in one sitting I might add, and would highly recommend it to everyone- it's one of her VERY BEST!
I'm going to end this with a line from the love letter that Keller wrote for Chrystobel: "I see the magic of a new beginning with you."
Keller, a seasoned knight, feared and respected by others was gifted the castle of Nether and also a bride for his service by William Marshall. Keller was also a man who had his heart stomped on a year prior. He would now have his own land in Wales along with a young Welsh Bride, who he did not particularly want. As he arrives, he has no idea as to what he is about to encounter.
Crystobel, a beautiful young Welsh beauty, has been physically abused by her evil brother. Her brother has not only abused her, but also her father and sister and anyone else he can. Everyone lives in fear of this horrible man. Her father has now given her in marriage to the English enemy. She knows she must do her duty for all involved. Will this man treat her as bad as what she is accustomed to?
This story had me anxiously wanting to find out what was going to happen next. There was a lot of tension throughout. Also, you felt for all the characters in one way or another. I laughed at moments, felt deeply for their hurts and I also rooted for them. I was taken on a journey of: recovery for all of these wounded souls and on a journey of hope for all of what each of them had to overcome.
I love the fact that several of this author's other knights from previous stories were included in Netherworld. It was great! I loved it and would encourage you to read it.
I look forward to more of Kathryn Le Veque's stories.
