About the Author
Teddy Burriss is world renowned as a Social Networking Consultant and Networking Strategist. After a successful career of Organizational Development, IT Management, Technology Sales and Operational Management, Teddy discovered that his purpose in life is to teach others the lifestyle and skills of Networking for Mutual Benefit as well as how to build relationships in real life (IRL) & thru the deliberate use of social media. Teddy lives a blessed life with his wife, four daughters, son-in-laws and growing population of grandchildren. For these blessings Teddy decided to create a business where he volunteers 50% of his time every day and runs his consulting business the balance of the time. Teddy writes daily on his blogs "Are you listening to me?", "Notes from NCWiseman" and "Burriss Consulting." Teddy is a fun loving, approachable professional focused on helping others as well as building his business. He has never met someone he could not strike up an interesting conversation with. When asked, "How are you?", his never wavering reply is another core lifestyle, "I am unbelievably fantastic, hovering near ecstasy." It's all about the attitude.

A major take-away theme is that in any relationship, the emphasis needs to be centered on heart knowledge as opposed to head knowledge. People do business with people…not companies…the first sale is achieving trust through relationship building in which time is the primary investment. The book is well worth the read.
Teddy Burris openly shares his professional journey from traditional networking to adopting the ideology and lifestyle of, “Networking for Mutual Benefit”. The book reveals why the author sought to denounce ineffective activities e.g. stockpiling business cards and meaningless word regurgitation, and conversely began to invest time into building relationships and having conversations. Throughout the book the reader is given insight into the irrelevance of the traditional school of thought, and the true meaning of “Networking for Mutual Benefit”. Among many things, the author provides practical advice to developing a diverse circle of contacts and advantages from forming real and lasting relationships (IRL or virtual).
This book is for anyone who has reservations about networking. If you regard it as a superficial exchange or quid pro quo, you should definitely read this kickstart. It doesn’t have to feel unnatural. My aha moments, I realized that to obtain the greatest benefit, I mustn’t view networking as a pseudo business deal, but a genuine opportunity to aid someone else forward. Networking is an opportunity to become acquainted with the most essential element - THE PERSON. Done properly this relationship will be equally rewarding to both parties, professionally and personally. Thanks for sharing, Teddy!
I know Teddy personally and would like to share with you another example of Giving with nothing expected in return, to show how Teddy Walks the Walk ~ about a year ago I was sitting in the emergency room, again, with my father. Over the past few months, his health had diminished quickly and we were just given the "c" word.
While distracting myself on social media, I saw Teddy make a comment about being at Starbucks. Jokingly, I said I'd take a Chai Tea. Within an hour, Teddy was delivering the tea to the ER and wouldn't even let me pay him for it.
That small gesture meant (and still does) mean the world to me, and I refer people to him often because I know they would be in the company of such a caring person. You brought that tea out of concern for me, not what you might get back in return.
Thank you Teddy for sharing your story with others. You made a believer out of me before the book, but sharing the concept on paper will indeed help you change the world!
Amazon Readers, get the book! You won't regret it and it will provide new perspective on how we should all conduct ourselves daily!
