Blog postA while back I asked you to chime in with reads you enjoyed in 2021. (Meant to post this back in January but here we are.) Below are some of the recommended books. We’ve got sci-fi/fantasy. We’ve got mystery. Sci-fi/mystery combos. A couple of time-travel romances. Thrillers.
My thanks to everyone who responded! Some of these authors I’ve read, others have gone on my TBR list.
I’ve just started one of the thrillers recommended, a book I hadn’t come across before, Mrs. Rocheste3 months ago Read more -
Blog postFirst, a welcome if you’ve recently found your way to this newsletter via my website, or a Voracious Readers Only giveaway, or the ArtWorks parking-lot fair back in September. Very happy to have you here!
This past year has gone by kind of fast, and yet when I think back to January it seems like a long time ago. A side effect of a pandemic year that was weird and strange for everyone? Our goldendoodle (Grif, age 3 1/2) agrees that time is a fluid concept — each spring he seems to comp5 months ago Read more -
Blog postHope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable summer!
Can anyone help me identify a bird? It nested a while back on the light fixture right outside our front door. There were at least three baby birds, from what we could see of the beaks peeking out of the nest. When we got back from a week away visiting family in South Carolina, everyone had flown the coop! I made an attempt to identify the breed by its brownish-white chest on one of those websites listing bird species in Minnesota,10 months ago Read more -

Blog postPhoto by PhotoMIX Company on Pexels.com I hope everyone is having a good spring and enjoying the warmer weather and maneuvering vaccine appointments without too much difficulty. It’s been hard to snag appointments here in Minnesota but I did just get the first dose of the vaccine yesterday. I’m looking forward to getting back to traveling this summer and doing normal things like regular haircuts and teeth cleanings and time spent at the outdoor swimming pool. Blog postHello, everyone! It’s here, the launch day for the eBook of All the Whys of Delilah’s Demise, a speculative whodunit set in a Seattle of the future. Now available for Kindle and on Kindle apps for iPad and iPhone.
An early review on Goodreads had these kind words to say about the book:
“Delilah’s Demise is a delightful surprise… An intriguing dystopian future blended with a murder mystery.”
I’ve had a couple of people ask whether there’ll be a print book. The answer is1 year ago Read more -
Blog postCOVER REVEAL
It’s here, the cover for All the Whys of Delilah’s Demise, out on March 16, 2021! I was concerned the title, being long, would have to be squished in, but I think it pops beautifully. Fantastic job on the design by Damonza.
ADVANCE READER COPIES
As the publication date nears, I’ll have a few ARC ebooks (Advance Reader Copies) to give out. I’ll be emailing these out at the beginning of March. Launch week reviews posted on Amazon and/or Goodreads are more im1 year ago Read more -

Book News
There’s book news to announce! The novel I’ve been working on for a while now has a publication date: March 16, 2021. The finalized title is All the Whys of Delilah’s Demise, a mystery set in a near-future Seattle. This one ended up being somewhat of a departure from my usual style, but I learned a lot in writing and polishing it, and from feedback I received along the way from beta-readers and my editors, Kristen Webe1 year ago Read more -

Blog postHope everyone’s having a relaxing holiday break!
First, an update about THE PEOPLE LIST, the book I’ve been working on for a while. The latest round of editorial suggestions has taken almost a year to implement, but I’m nearing the finish line of what has felt not like a sprint but a marathon. At just under 100,000 words, this is now the longest novel I’ve written. I’ve learned a lot in the process of writing this one, not the least of which is how important having an uninterrupt2 years ago Read more -

We found ten men, red from blood and dead…
At the center of an expanding mystery: a fabled Viking runestone left behind in the Minnesota woodland of ages past.
In this much anticipated second installment of Neve Maslakovic’s time travel series, St. Sunniva University’s Julia Olsen and Nate Kirkland find themselves hot on the trail of a fourteenth-century artifact, a missing runic specialist, and an all-too-familiar kidnapper who has used the time travel lab’s STEWie (SpaceTimE Warper) for a joyride deep into America’s past.
Armed with nothing more than a hunch and a keen understanding of History’s rules, can Julia, Nate, and their teammates track down the kidnapper and the missing researcher before the inevitable—and perilous—clash with History?
A skillful blend of mystery, science, and history, The Runestone Incident is a smart and satisfying follow-up to The Far Time Incident.
As assistant to the dean of science, Julia Olsen is tasked with helping Campus Security Chief Nate Kirkland quietly examine this rare mishap...then, just as quietly, make it go away. But when the investigation indicates that the professor's disappearance may have been a murder, those inspecting the incident unwittingly find themselves caught in a deadly cover-up -- one in which history itself is the weapon.
From the snow-blanketed walkways of St. Sunniva's campus to the sun-bleached cobblestone of ancient Pompeii's roads, The Far Time Incident is a lively romp through history, science, and the academic world in the wake of a crime.
When New Seattle's most popular resident—charismatic Delilah—takes a tumble off her balcony, the blame for the seeming accident lands on nineteen-year-old Scottie. More interested in finding out who her parents were than in searching for a personal brand, Scottie's already scraping the bottom of the popularity list. This will send her down to last place—and that means a short ride out into the frozen wasteland outside New Seattle’s gates.
While the town's social stars scuffle for the open spot at the top, Scottie, aided by her "Watson," the personal assistant her brain chip provides, scrambles to save herself and find the real culprit. What she unearths will shake the very foundation of her world...and place her squarely in the crosshairs of a shadowy killer intent on clearing a path to number one.
Set as a prequel to Neve Maslakovic’s time-travel series (The Far Time Incident, The Runestone Incident, and The Bellbottom Incident), The Feline Affair is a lively jaunt into science, history, and academia.
The Feline Affair is a novelette of about 12,000 words (50 pages).
Fast-forward to 35 years later: Felix Sayers is a culinary writer living in San Francisco of Universe A who spends his days lunching at Coconut Café and dreaming of penning an Agatha Christie-style mystery. But everything changes when his Aunt Henrietta dies, leaving Felix a photograph which proves that he was born before the bifurcation, not after, as he had been told. He has an 'alter' in Universe B.
Panicked that his mystery novel may have been penned already by his alter, Felix crosses to San Francisco B and proceeds to flagrantly violate the rules of both worlds by snooping around his alter's life. But when he narrowly escapes a hit-and-run, it becomes clear that someone knows he's crossed over... and whoever it is isn't happy about it. Now Felix must uncover the truth about his alter, the events of one Monday, and a wayward rubber duck before his time in both worlds runs out.
