Editorial Reviews

Review

Never Been Kissed is a great book! It will hook you from page one. Ashley and Brody are perfect together. Ashley is the sweet next-door type and Brody is the brooding hero. The chemistry between all the characters is spot-on. . . . I can’t wait to see what Molly O’Keefe has in store for us next!”Fresh Fiction

“Incredibly well written, truly engaging and with characters who grab your heart, Never Been Kissed is a fantastic addition to Ms. O’Keefe’s The Boys of Bishop series.”—Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

“The characters have a sweet chemistry with doses of humor and drama, and the plot develops into more than just the hero rescuing the heroine.”RT Book Reviews

“A fast-paced and engaging novel with a charming cast of likable characters . . . Never Been Kissed is another captivating romance in Molly O’Keefe’s divine Boys of Bishop series. While it is a heartwarming love story between two incredibly complex individuals, it is also a wonderful journey of healing and self-discovery for the characters as well.”—Book Reviews & More by Kathy

“[O’Keefe] has a knack for creating damaged characters whose only hope for healing lies in giving and accepting love. . . . This knack is on display again in the second book of her Boys of Bishop series. . . . She gives her readers a sizzling romance, but it is also a romance that develops in credible and emotionally satisfying ways. Her characters are always presented with rich contexts, and Brody and Ashley are no exception. . . . If you like imperfect characters who confront real issues and earn their happily ever after by learning and growing, I highly recommend this book.”—The Romance Dish

“It’s a second chance a romance that could never happen. . . . This is the story of a very broken man and a very strong woman determined to give him her love. A lovely, unique story and a great cast of secondary characters make this a fantastic read.”—Smut Book Club

“This was a beautifully constructed story with characters that I loved. The story is rich, and emotional, and so beautiful in the end. . . . I loved it . . . every single bit of it.”—Smitten with Reading

Never Been Kissed by Molly O’Keefe is a very well-written book whose main characters, Brody Baxter and Ashley Montgomery have very real, though somewhat unbelievable independent struggles coupled with the struggles of a new/old relationship. Ashley fell in love with Brody when she was seventeen and he was a bodyguard to her wealthy political family. When he discovered her feelings, he resigned his position, and has not seen her since. She has recently been kidnapped by Somali pirates, and the Montgomery family asks Brody to rescue her. Of course he will. After the rescue, he takes her to his hometown of Bishop, Arkansas to keep her away from the press, as well as her meddling mother, to rest and recoup. Confined to close quarters, old feelings resurface. Can Brody resist her this time? Will he be able to walk away again?

There is a certain amount of co-dependence in all relationships; however Ms. O’Keefe does not allow her characters to focus completely on co-dependence and the typical pitfalls that occur when relying on another person to completely define both themselves and their relationship. In contrast, she invites the reader along for a very heart-warming and inspirational journey through a blossoming relationship as well as individual character self-discovery and growth.

Ashley was an amazing and strong heroine. This is important to me, as well as hard to find in a romance novel these days. She was a strong young woman who never gave up, who loved this man UNCONDITIONALLY...who accepted him and loved him for who he was. Their story will have you crying tears of happiness, sadness, feeling helpless...you wish you could jump into this book and shake Brody and tell him to WAKE UP!

Wow every time I start to read a Molly O'Keefe book, I am amazed at how well she writes.i love the little town of Bishop, Arkansas and when the book started I was worried how she was going to get us there. Shouldn't have been worried as her plot was great and pretty soon I was back in Bishop with the town. This is the story of Ashley Montgomery, the daughter of a rich family in Georgia who have lots of political aspirations. Ashley feels like the black sheep of the family because she wants no part of politics. She has a heart of gold and wants to build communities. Brody had been her bodyguard previously and due to a kidnapping of Ashley by pirates, he gets called into action for her again. From the very first you feel the connection between these two and the story revolves around their courtship and situational dilemmas. Brody has a lot of childhood issues (well deserved) but since Bishop is his hometown we get to see If these get resolved.

I also loved the secondary love story of Sean, Brody's brother, and Cora who manages the small grill in their town. What a fun read this was and I also looking forward to the next book in this series. Thanks to Ms. O'Keefe, Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with and ARC of this book for an honest review.

I liked this story but not Brody. He was just so unlikeable from the very beginning. His dialog within himself kind of drove me crazy while I was ready. With that being said, here is my review.

Brody, foster child, protector of his little brother going into the Marines, is injury over seas during the war. Comes home to start working as a security guard/bodyguard to the rich and famous. He never had a wonderful relationship at home because he did not want to get to close to anyone since he believed they always left. Better to be alone then show that you care was his motto.

Ashley Montgomery is kidnapped by pirates. Her brother contacts the only person he knows that can get her back, Brody. Brody does what he does best his job. He rescues Ashley. He will do what needs to be done to keep her safe. But he did not realize how much seeing her again would get to him. He has to fight his desire for this young lady not the young girl he first meets 10 years ago.

As Ashley has issues of her own mainly the hand that her mother has over what she does and says, Ashley decided to do what she wants for once in her life. She leaves the big city allowing Brody to take her to where she will truly be safe. Safe from her family, safe from the press but not so safe from losing her heart to him.

We watch as Brody and Ashley’s relationship goes from just snide remarks at each other to secret glances to secret fantasies of each other. The chemistry between the two of them was no there for me. He was just too much of a jerk for me to think that the sweet noble Ashley would fall for a man like that. But guess love knows no boundaries.

The side characters, Sean and Cora, loved them. They were so much fun to watch their relationship develop. I would love to see more of them.

I now have another favorite author. I almost read this book in one sitting and would have had I not had something important to do. I loved Brody and Ashley, Sean and Cora, and Ed. There were moments of humor, of seriousness, of some really great love scenes, and deep emotions both happy and sad. This book had it all, along with some real interesting family dynamics for each of the characters. I look forward to the next book in this series but until then I will be reading more of Molly's books.
