was inspired by my great-grandmother's memoir, written by hand when she was eighty-two years old. On page one she wrote, "I cannot say that anything extraordinary has happened to me..." I hope she felt differently by page 148, when she finished sharing her challenges and accomplishments. I was certainly impressed by them, which is why I wrote this novel.
