I unashamedly admit that I absolutely devoured this book - I read it in one day. Along the way, I laughed out loud, I cried genuine tears, uttered a few knowing "mmmm"s and fell in love with Andy.
As far as writing style, you can hear the author's voice loud and clear. You hear his wise guy attitude evolve into a wise man with life experiences that very few people could possibly relate to.
A final thought: if you are a teenager or a parent of a teenager - especially of driving or riding around in cars age - this is an important commentary to share with the whole family. It tells the story with brutal honesty and draws you in and keeps your attention. We as parents preach the perils of drug, sex and alcohol frequently. We might lecture our kids to drive safe or not drive drunk... but we rarely discuss what it means to he reckless and foolish behind the wheel. I will share this material with my own children and also show the excellent short film referenced in the pages of the book.
This is a great read; you won't regret the time you spend getting to know Andy Phelps.
Andy's book exceeded my expectations--so well written that by the end of the book you feel as though you've known him all his life. His life was spared for a specific purpose and Andy has figured that out. What a talented, hard-working and ethical young man he is. I only knew his name and that he is a favored client with his nursing agency. I am so thankful for this inspiring book and hope that book 2 is coming sooner than later. Way to go Andy...Spot On!
