Also the story in the beginning about Robert's brother taking him to the Isle of Wight festival is priceless. I won't say anymore here so that you'll go get the book!
It probably could be better but there's still enough good info in there for Cure fans that they won't be dissapointed. Another important thing to mention is that he interviewed Lol Tolhurst, and some other former members, so you get more than one perspective on the old days, which is cool.
For Cure fans alike this book is a MUST read!!! It's great! Don't hesitate, buy it!! You will love it!!
rating: not recommended, or marginally recommended to the Cure fan who wants to learn more about the band and doesn't mind slogging through misinformation and boring descriptions of Cure albums.
I love to read and I'm always interested in a good biography. A friend of mine handed me his Kindle with this book on it and the comment, "I think you might like to read this. I'll be back in a week." I took his Kindle Fire into my arms and did a happy dance (because of the book, of course...but also because I got to play around with his cool Kindle Fire for a week. Yay!) I was over the moon that I had something that promised to be a fascinating biography and I put down my own Kindle, picked up my friend's, put my feet up in my lounge chair under my umbrella in the back yard and started reading.
Well, I read it. I wish I could stuff my happy dance back into my feet. I wish I could have the hours back that I wasted on this absurd "biography", written by someone who has limited writing skills, someone who utterly lacks research skills, and someone who OBVIOUSLY has it in for Robert Smith. I am presuming that Mr. Smith and family refused personal interviews with Jeff Apter, who reacted by making it his religion to put Smith down at every opportunity. Apter's personal malice is transparent in his variety of malicious snipes taken at Robert Smith throughout this entire volume of unverifiable redundancy. What is also obvious is Apter's ingratiating gratitude towards Lol Tolhurst for offering up his whatevers. It's also obvious that Lol likes being liked.Read more ›
