No matter what anyone else thinks or wants, Katie and Ethan are drawn to each other in a way that neither can explain. Their connection is one that won’t easily be severed. They have to travel through many obstacles, some seemingly insurmountable, in this second book. Katie has so many hang-ups, and in anyone else, in any other book, it would have maybe bothered me, but with what she’s been through, I give Katie all the free passes. Also, Ethan, he’s just SO intense, but he’s never had anyone to truly call his own before and of course he wants this thing to with Katie to work out.
Ethan and Katie help each other through all their hurdles and there’s no way you don’t come out of this thinking that they are not endgame. They just have to see if that’s enough, if they can see through the past and the hurt and everyone else, to let themselves be together.
I love Ethan and Katie so much. After everything they’ve been through in the past and in their current relationship, their ending was truly rewarding as a reader. I fell in love with their relationship and with the way they relied on each other to become stronger people. They truly help each other be better and all you want is for them to figure it out and be happy.
At the conclusion of book #1 in Monica Murphy’s Never Tear Us Apart series, Will and Katie (aka, Ethan & Katherine) are at a crossroads in their relationship. Discovering the truth behind Ethan’s true identity was the ultimate betrayal for Katie, thus tearing the couple apart. Going forward, “Never Let You Go” begs the question: where does this couple go from here?
In “Never Let You Go,” Katie & Will must overcome a number of obstacles if they are ever to move forward in their relationship. Is it even possible for Katie to forgive Will for his deceit? Moving past the lies is just the first step. Even if they can overcome this giant hurdle, there are other factors that come into play--Katie’s family for one. What’s the likelihood that Katie’s mom and sister would accept Will as part of Katie’s life? And what about the rest of the world? How will others perceive their unlikely relationship?
Despite the horrific circumstances that first brought Will & Katie together, the pair formed a unique bond that is difficult for the outside world to understand. Having suffered innumerable atrocities at the hands of the same man, both Will & Katie clung to each other for support. Their shared experience linked them together until others sought to keep them apart. But despite years of separation, their connection remained impenetrable.
After years of separately rebuilding their lives, Will & Katie each went from victim to survivor. Reuniting meant trying to merge their separate worlds and facing, head on, the demons of their pasts. Letting go of the past and holding onto each other, despite outside influences, is yet another obstacle this couple must fight to overcome.
This two-book series by Monica Murphy is a uniquely interesting concept. I applaud the author for tackling a sensitive topic that could likely garner criticism, and I praise her for doing so in a compassionate yet thought-provoking manner.
While I’ll admit that I enjoyed the first book in this series slightly more than the second, I also recognize that the conclusion to Will & Katie’s story was probably much harder to write. Maintaining interest and excitement as Will & Katie navigated their future together, was at times, lacking. But an unexpected twist to the couple’s story eventually led us towards a surprising and exhilarating conclusion.
Overall, an excellent series that I would highly recommend!!
The heart wants what it wants and Katie has to come to terms with Will being in her life again and how he deals with the evil legacy of his father. A nosy journalist forces them to confront his father's version of events all those years ago and the media spotlight is digging up emotions that neither is prepared for but when faced with unthinkable obstacles they confront their past and choose each other. Monica Murphy shows that loves really does conquer all and this book gives the unlikely couple their happy ever after ending.
