I think the author could have promise, the writing was good. But it majorly lacked in storytelling and setup. I’m frankly surprised YLVA published this as the caliber of many of their writers is exceptional and this was just disappointing.
Also, the kid is adorable but barely speaks throughout the novel but of course he is the one who makes these grand observations about love and articulates them to his mom & nanny. Another completely out of character moment that made no sense.
Don’t waste your money on this one.
The story and writing were good and they deserve the 4 star rating. I just felt a little let down.
I endured the angst (there was a lot of it) but never felt like I got that special scene that both women were craving. For me, it makes it worth the struggle. The long denied sexual frustration that produces a stunning fireworks display (not sure where that one came from, but I already said it).
I get it, some books will not have amazing adult wlw scenes. I just felt like these two women deserved it, though.
Still...I read it in one sitting and didn't put it down.
Camila has been burned before, she believes she is unlucky in love and should be alone because she destroys her relationships. Emily had a difficult childhood and she is still a bright light full of perseverance. Together the chemistry is outstanding and they need to learn to let go and just let love happen. Especially with a little help from an inquisitive 5 year old. I look forward to more by Rachael Sommers.
