This book is a perfect addition to the Too Far series.
Three words for you: Peanut Butter Scene.
I, along with half the women in America – or at least those who read Abbi's books, love Rush Finlay. He's a sexy, brooding alpha male. He's also a manwhore. Or he was, at least. But that's part of his charm. Say what you will about Rush, but the women he was with knew what the deal was. He never let them think it was something more. Was he a jerk? At times, yes. And sometimes even with Blaire. But it didn't matter, I've been a fan from the start. Of course, I got a little angry with him from time to time, but I always suspected he would make things right.
If you've read any of the Too Far or Rosemary Beach books, you know the story of Blaire and Rush, so I won't bore you with details. If you haven't read the books yet and you like sexy romances with bad boys, sweet girls and hot scenes, pick these up immediately. This story was just as sexy as the first. Maybe even more so because we were looking at Blaire through Rush's eyes... and let me tell you, that boy is intense. Also, hot. But you knew both of those things. He's also got a huge heart and more feelings than he lets show. I just wanted to give him a big hug at the end. I was a mushy mess of feels.
It pretty much goes without saying that my favorite thing about this book was getting Rush's side of the story. Abbi did a fantastic job of writing him. She writes the male POV really well. And while, yes, the story is the same as in Fallen Too Far, it never felt like I was reading the same book all over again because of the new bits and bites she added in. Even if it had felt more like a reread, however, I think I still would have loved it. We knew from the start Rush was attracted to Blaire and that he tried to stay away. But I loved reading his thoughts as he realized what he had for her was more than lust. This reformed bad boy won my heart all over again with this book.
Now is it too much to hope Abbi will write the other two books from his POV as well? I'd love to see more about what was going on with him during the times he was apart from Blaire. I'll cross my fingers and hope.
Sweet beautiful Blaire just has no clue how bewitching she is. She is so pure hearted. No surprises in the story because it is the same obviously - the watching on the balcony, the kiss under the stairs, the O in the car at the honky tonk, the STAIRS! Like I said that boy has mad skills.
Rush Too Far ends at the end of Fallen Too Far with sadness and heartbreak. The others were dual POV anyway so Rush's feelings are already there. I feel a re-read coming on. That will be the 4th time.
Rosemary beach will always make me think of sunshine and laughter.
Oh and if you have ever seen pictures of Alessandra Torre's house that is just how I picture Rush's house in my head.
I wasn't sure how Abbi was going to top Fallen but I was pleasantly surprised. The few scenes that she did add were good and well written but I found myself wanting to experience the infamous Rush Finlay pre-Blaire. I liked that we got to experience more of Nan's emotions and vindictive mindset in this story than we did in the first one. I never really understood her hatred until I read Rush's point of view.
Another thing I wished that Abbi had put in this book more so than the first was the interaction between Rush and his parents. Even though his dad is a big part of his life, I felt like we would have had a few scenes sprinkled in between. I know that Rush hated his mom and hated Abe but it would have been nice to see exactly were that hatred stemmed from. She showed glimpses of it but never the entire picture.
All in all, I fell in love with Rush and Blaire all over again. Their story is one that I have read countless of times (and probably one I will continue to read countless times). This extension only made this story better. Kudos to Abbi for giving us Rush's side of the story,
This is a review on the Rosemary Beach Series including Twisted Perfection & Simple Perfection
I absolutely LOVED this series, Abbi Glines is one of my all time favorite authors.
I love the way all the characters appear in all the books and how over the series you get to know each and everyone of them with each book.
Blaire & Rush are still my favorite couple by far, with Della & Woods close second.
Just being able to loose myself and feel like I'm actually there whilst reading these books was a major plus for me. Especially when you can't pout the books down and you never want it to end.
I loved being able to laugh, cry and get angry which sometimes doesn't always happen but when a story is written as good as these, it happens!
Thank You Abbi Glines for taking me on an amazing journey through books. Can't wait to read the rest.
