I loved it from start to end....

Another great story by Maureen Driscoll. Ever since I was pleasantly introduced to the Kellingtons with Never a Mistress, No Longer a Maid I fell for them. They all have charm, sense of humor, kindness and wit. After finishing this latest instalment in the series I can honestly say they are my favorite characters, and I've read many books, many, many books.

Once again, the author has caprtured me from the first sentence. The dialogues are superb! Probably my favorite part of the story, the author amazes me with how natural they flow. The story has action, suspense and keeps you guessing up until the last chapter. Still it is a romantic story through and through. The interaction between the Kellingtons is funny and genuine, they had me laughing out loud in public. Needless to say I didn't put it down until I finished it. Vanessa wasn't a tedious female that fought love until she magically accepted it at the end. She has brains, she has courage, beauty and common sense, all which made me like her more and more with every word I read.

Arthur was... Simply spectacular. I've always thought of Liam as my favorite Kellington, now I'm not so sure. Arthur is a great character. Brave, like his namesake, handsome, funny and not overly confident or chauvinistic. He believes in Vanessa's abilities, is proud of her and wants her to be his equal in every sense of the word. But still feels the need to protect her because he loves her and protect her he does without demeaning her capability of protecting hereself.

This is a must read. You will be charmed by the Kellingtons both male and female. And I'm sure once you are you would wish there were more than 5 of them so the series would Never end!

This is the third book in Maureen Driscoll's Kellington series. I was hooked with book one, and this series just gets better and better.

Never Wager Against Love was a truly pleasurable read. Maureen Driscoll's writing and storytelling grabs hold of the reader from the first page and doesn't let go till the last page. The characters have a lot of depth and are well thought out. I also LOVE the fact that all of the characters from the prior books are brought back throughout the series. The storyline was excellent with lots of action, as Vanessa and Arthur go on a quest to find and retrieve priceless artifacts before the villains can get to them first.

Vanessa's character was highly unusual and unique. She was an agent of the Home Office, was unheard during the time period that the book is set in. She was extremely intelligent, and it was quite often an asset as Arthur and her journeyed from place to place to locate the priceless artifacts.

I adored Arthur. He was so protective of Vanessa and I loved reading his thoughts and feelings in relation to Vanessa, how they changed and grew MORE as the story unfolded.

It was easy to feel the attraction and chemistry between Vanessa and Arthur. The sensuality in this book is VERY HIGH and when they finally joined together it was EXPLOSIVE! This book is no way erotic, but for those of you who enjoy some steam in your reads you will be very happy with the overall heat factor.

The book ended on a high note with an excellent epilogue, complete with a happily ever after.

The main plot device here--a quest to procure three valuable items supposedly for the Home Office--was just flat-out ridiculous. The main characters were supposed to be very intelligent, but they went right along with the plan which was riddled with holes.

The romance was well written, the characters enjoyably drawn.

I can suspend disbelief like crazy, but not for stupidity. This is a shame, since the previous book in the series was so adorable.

I enjoyed the first two books but this one was SO tedious. I just couldn't get myself to care about either main character or their quest. Actually all of the characters seemed remarkably 2-dimensional. I may abandon it.

Each one of the books in this series has a focus on one of the 5 Kellington siblings, left without parents when the eldest brother was just 19, this family is unique and close-knit. Esteemed by society, their actions are often the talk of the tonne, even as few would dare cross them to their face.

When he was a younger man, he saved a gypsy woman from a group of local boys who were threatening her. As payment, the woman read his fortune: when he heard that his love would be shot and he would be too late, he decided that it was better to not love. Still reeling from the loss of his parents, this decision to not attach is at the root of his wandering and often casual approach to life.

While at a house party at Lizzie's soon to be husband's family home, Arthur runs across a singular beauty, who wants nothing to do with him, much to his displeasure. When the lady turns out to be an Agent of the Crown on the tail of two criminals who have absconded with half of a very important coded message from a French spy , Arthur takes off after her. He had to "borrow' one of the horses since Vanessa has taken his Merlin, and the moment at which the two start their adventure together is priceless and funny.

The dialogue and interaction between the two is laced with internal voices talking about why it's a bad idea to be so attracted. Arthur is convinced to love Vanessa will endanger her, and Vanessa is not a member of society, in fact she is so far removed from society that she grudgingly has to accept that not all are useless wastrels after having encountered the Kellington family.
