I have, for the most part, bought Nike AirMax shoes. I bought my first pair of NB 608 v5 casual cross trainers because, well, because they were inexpensive compared to the Nike shoes. Nowadays, I mainly walk instead of run. My dog and I will go on walks that average six miles a day. Sometimes, we will walk ten miles in a day. These shoes were comfortable right out of the box. In fact, in true fashion of giving shoes a chance to rest between wearing them, I bought a second pair. They are not stylish. They are Dad shoes. I would call them “Grandpa” shoes. On occasion, I have run with them. But bring a grandpa, not for a great distance. However, when running they felt fine too.

These run 1 size small compared to 608V2s from 10 yrs ago

The size chart says these are 28mm long. That's incorrect, according to my measurement and that of another buyer who measured his own size 11s and answered my posted question. He measured 32mm from heel to toe, same as what I measured when my pair arrived. I don't know why the size chart says 28mm. 4 mm is a big discrepancy. These 608V5s (or whatever the whole model number is) replace a pair of 608V2s (size 10) that I bought 10 yrs ago. Those measure 32mm long. So apparently a size 10 from 10 yrs ago is the same length as a current size 11. They are different model # shoes, but still, why such a size difference? Thanks to the other buyer, I ordered a size larger than I otherwise would have, saving me the trouble of returning a pair of size 10s that, in my view, would not have been true to size compared to past purchases.

I'm a delivery driver so I'm on my feet & walking on various surfaces while working. These shoes are comfortable and don't slip on restaurant floors for the most part. Once in a while you'll hit something that is slick so I'd say about 95+% effective. They are not "non-slip" on ice & snow (just so you know.) Mine lasted about a year & a half. They're worn out & worn soles.

That might matter to some, but not to me -- glad to get these and at less than $60!

Thought I would need to exchange but decided against it, would need an expert to assist with this call. Fit is either too small or just perfectly right with barely a 1/16th of an inch to spare. So I a going to keep them and learn from this . Thought possibly as you get older physical features may change. As I am in my 70's (and show no signs of wearing out) I am suprised to see that things in general aren't shrinking yet (wink, wink). I never jogged but always ran and I'll see you as I go bye, by cricky.

I’m a woman, needed something with better grip while I recover from a hip replacement. We live in Minnesota, where it gets wet, icy, snowy during the winter months, and my son had a fit when he noticed how little grip women’s shoes have. He took me straight to the men’s department at Kohl’s, where we figured out what size I need. They didn’t have this pair in white, though, so I ordered them on Amazon, where they were $2 cheaper.

A side benefit of these shoes is that I have a couple of damaged toenails growing out. This shoe has more room in the toe box, so it’s lots more comfortable.

My husband has to help me put on my shoes and socks for now. He’s way happier with these shoes than with my others cuz they go on more easily.

This isn’t my forever shoe—they look kind of clunky—but they fit and they're not as bad as I expected. I’m not to proud to be sensible for now.

The quality of the shoes is fine. I returned them partly because the Wide size was slightly too wide for me though I had tried another model in standard D width and found it a bit tight. So NB sizes are somewhat unreliable. But they are great when they fit. However the main reason for returning them was that they were made in Indonesia when the website suggested they were made in the US. NB charges a high price for US made shoes which I was ready to pay. I have now ordered them for about ⅓ the price from NB direct, knowing that they will be made in the East not US.
But to Bixem's (the supplier) credit they took the shoes back without a quibble (post pre paid by them) and refunded the original postage too. And the refund came through promptly. It was easy to communicate with them.
So my 3 stars reflects the overall experience.

Order the Wide or X-Wide these have a Narrow Fit and Small Toe Box

These shoes fit true to size, however the are narrow and the toe box is confining on the regular version. I recommend ordering the Wide for Regular feet and X-Wide for wider feet.

The shoe itself is inexpensive ($99.99) and well made. I normally wear Nike and Merrell shoes but recently developed pain in my 4th & 5th Metatarsal bones (ball of foot) and needed to switch my shoe brand after 10+ years.

New Balance was one of the highest recommendations so I bought both a pair of 623 V3 and 608 V5 Casual Comfort Cross Trainers. These shoes were both the #1 Best Sellers according to Amazon in my search.

Both shoes are very similar in style apart from some stitching on the top of the toes. The main difference between these two models of shoes is the insole and outer sole. The insole on the 608 has slightly more cushion and memory type foam and the outer sole is with the main difference in the sole has a slightly more aggressive tread pattern. The insole on the 623 is firmer and less aggressive sole tread intended for indoors or smoother surfaces. Your foot rides higher in the ankle on the 623 and lower on the 608.

As far as pricing goes there is a $10 difference between the 608 and 623 at the time I purchased them, with the 608 being more expensive.

Both shoes are comfortable to wear but I preferred the firmer insole and less stitching on and toe box of the 623 rather than this more expensive 608. I spend 8-15 hours a day on my feet so having a comfortable shoe is essential. These new balance Cross Trainers feel good for about 4-5 hours but after that my feet began to hurt. They do relieve some of my metatarsal pain but not as much as I hoped for. I ended up sending both shoes back and purchase some Saucony Omni Walker 3 and Saucony Exite Le 9 Walking shoes instead. The Saucony's ended up fitting my foot better, were more comforatable to wear for 10+ hours and were lower priced.

These New Balance Comfort Cross Trainers are good overall walking/casual training shoes. They are comfortable and reasonably priced. They have a narrow fit so order the Wide or X-Wide size. Lastly check out Saucony Walking Shoes on Amazon as an alternative ... you may just find a more comfortable pair of walking shoes at an even lower price like I did.
