Not the same anymore, avoid at all costs
on June 16, 2016
This is my 5th pair of new balance 1080s, a shoe that I have loved since i bought my first pair. I have always felt they were worth the price. They always fit well and I put 400+ miles on each pair. With version 6th they broke them. It seems like a totally different shoe. First, the bottom of the shoe is nothing like the other versions. Now it is all one piece. Second, they are light, but they seem a little cheap as well. Third, I bought the exact size as before and used the amazon measuring stuff, but this shoe does not fit like the v5. There is movement in my heal and the toe box seems wider as well. What is worse, if you feel inside the show you can feel a sharp ridge where the front mesh part meets with the heavier striped part by the logo. This sharp edge actually cut the side of my foot on my first run (actually both feet, one worse than the other) I check my v5s, and with my hand i don't feel an edge like this. Sure I can try to loosen the show, but that makes the travel in the now wider toe-box worse. I think I'm done with New Balance and need to find a different brand. They are now not made in the US, raise the price $20 each year, and now have a much worse design. I'm worried that I just spend $135 on shoes that I won't be running in anymore if i can't find a good way to pad the inside, and will only wear when i want to be really tacky.
