New Balance is dedicated to helping athletes achieve their goals. It's been their mission for more than a century to focus on research and development. It's why they don't design products to fit an image. They design them to fit. New Balance is driven to make the finest shoes for the same reason athletes lace them up: to achieve the very best.

Update: After working with them for a few months, I do have some issues. One of them is the squelch-y squeaking sound they make as I walk, I believe it's related to the non-slip traction, it's not terrible but it does get a little old.
The other, more serious problem is that they need to be more ventilated. More so than other shoes (especially my other New Balance Shoes) my feet get very hot in them during long days, very sweaty, and (frankly) much more smelly when removed. It's not a deal killer but I am removing one star for the lack of adequate ventilation.
If you're used to New Balance but haven't tried these yet, there are a couple of things to note. The 626K2's have a slightly slimmer fit (compared to the 409 model, both being standard D width), and have a lower Achilles tendon protector (the "cup" of the heel), so if you wear orthopedic inserts like I do, the back of your heel will rub against the back of the shoe (otherwise, the shoe fits perfectly).
