I am...not yet...a trail "runner". But as I am getting to that point (losing weight and getting in shape), I have been seeking out demanding hill climbs. I was having leg pain which seemed to be caused by the foot "slapping" stride forced by my relatively rigid hiking boots. That pain resolved almost immediately with the Leadville3. The overall trail experience improved as well.
Addendum: at about 8 months (about 30 mi/week), vibram soles worn, inside food bed worn, and part of the upper on one shoe must have come in contact with something as there is some breakdown there. Just plain worn out... Like the shoes still
Addendum: Feb. 5th, 2018
Please note these are TRAIL shoes. I like these shoes so much, I made the mistake of wearing these on some distance walking on roads. While I've found the soles extremely durable and slip resistant in a variety of trail conditions, the soles will wear pretty quickly on asphalt and concrete. Im not taking any points off the rating for that, after all they are trail shoes and they are serving that purpose quite well.
