I bought these shoes on August 19th of this year. Around the end of October, the tread had worn completely down and the interiors were falling apart with big chunks of the shoe structure just breaking off. The right shoe started making a wheezing sound when I step on it. Basically: they fell apart. I put a little more use into shoes than the average person (I walk a lot) but I'm not a runner so I'm still using these shoes a lot less than they were intended to be used. My shoes typically last 5-8 months but this pair barely survived two.
I don't like writing this. I'm a brand loyalty guy and New Balance has been one of my "go-to" shoe brands for a long time but I'm afraid it's time to move on. I need shoes that last longer than 2 months.
The smell is also un-real. I've never smelled anything quite so hideous as this shoe. I thought it was me until I read other reviews with the same dilemma.
To make matters even worse, I contacted New Balance and heard NOTHING back in reply. They have ZERO customer service.
Interestingly enough, once these have been worn out at the gym and don't look nice enough to wear with decent clothes, I started using them for yard work type stuff. They are surprisingly durable under tough conditions. They hold up well enough that I feel guilty throwing them away. They look awful but are still very functional so I now have a bunch of them in the garage that my wife and I argue about throwing out.
And I am size 15 so shoe shopping is always a nightmare. These have solved that
