4.0 out of 5 stars Great, except for the toes covering the steel
By Wayne E. Young on November 4, 2015
I needed a wide work shoe and these fit the bill. They are very comfortable and I have no problem wearing them the entire day. I have high arches and a high instep and they fit fine. They are heavier than a New Balance cross training type shoe, so don't be surprised, but that is to be expected with a steel toed shoe. The one negative thing I have about them is the material that covers the steel toe is much to thin, or not durable enough. As you can see in the attached photo the material over the toes has worn away to the bare steel. This started not long after I first started wearing them, but hasn't got drastically worse. I have been wearing the shoes in the photo for over a year. I do 75% office work, and 25% shop mechanic work to give you an idea of the wear I put on them. The white speckles are from paint overspray. So other than the toes, you can see they hold up very well. Now if they would just beef up those toes!

EDIT: I have been wearing these for around two years now and am demoting them to occasional home yard work status and going to replace them as my regular work shoes. I have added new photos, and you can see they held up fairly well, with the exception of the toe area. I have a fairly wide foot, and these are 4E width, and you can see the sides held up very well. I normally will wear out the side of a shoe just behind the little toe area way before anything else on a shoe is worn, but these held up exceptionally well there. As you can see, I didn't have any problems with the bottom soles wearing or cracking as others have reported, in fact they show very little wear. My main issue now is that the inside sole padding is getting crushed and my feet are starting to hurt (a problem I could probably solve with a new insert) but also the toe area wear and now the left shoe is wearing a hole on top where the steel toe ends. I really liked these shoes, but I think I am going to try another brand that has better toe protection so they don't look like second hand store shoes so soon. If it weren't for the toe area I wouldn't hesitate to reorder these shoes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reliable for Long and Strenuous Shifts
By Reviewer on July 13, 2017
Since my job requires continuous standing/walking, I selected these durable shoes. Black was appropriate since sawdust and dirt are not prominent. The appearance is modest and professional and does not blatantly draw attention from coworkers or customers. The texture seems rugged and the laces are of sufficient length for double tying. The steel toe will protect you from risks in heavy-lifting environments and does not compress toes as most composite toe shoes will. I discovered that my feet no longer ached when my shift was over and operation of palette jacks and heavy machinery are no longer intimidating. In general, the shoes are comfortable and the arch support is sufficient. My only complaint is that the shoes are not water proof.

UPDATE: The shoes are still intact after repeated exposure to rough concrete and stepping in paint remover.
