Challenges are often issued to other articles of the Christian faith as well, such as the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and to specifically Catholic beliefs, such as the unique authority of the pope. For this reason, Christians — and Catholic Christians in particular — often find themselves defending their beliefs in conversations with non-believers.

About the Author

Dave Armstrong is a Catholic apologist and author (convert from evangelical Protestantism in 1991). His conversion story is in "Surprised by Truth" (1994). He's been published in "The Catholic Answer," "This Rock," "Envoy," and other periodicals. Dave's many radio appearances include "Catholic Answers Live" and "Faith & Family Live."

His website / blog, "Biblical Evidence for Catholicism" has been online since February 1997, and contains more than 2500 papers (including 50+ separate web pages and 625+ dialogues). Sophia Institute Press has published five of his 30 books: "A Biblical Defense of Catholicism" (2003), "The Catholic Verses" (2004), "The One-Minute Apologist" (2007), "Bible Proofs for Catholic Truths" (2009), and "The Quotable Newman" (editor: 2012).

Dave was the co-author (with Dr. Paul Thigpen) of "The New Catholic Answer Bible" (Our Sunday Visitor: 2005), and editor for "The Wisdom of Mr. Chesterton: The Very Best Quotes, Quips, and Cracks from the Pen of G. K. Chesterton" (Saint Benedict Press / TAN Books: 2009) and author of "100 Biblical Arguments Against Sola Scriptura" (Catholic Answers, 2012).

He has been happily married to Judy since October 1984; they have three sons and a daughter and reside in metro Detroit.

Also has numerous laminated pages within that address important questions by Catholics and Protestants. For example: Why do Catholics pray for the dead? To Saints? What is a relic? Why is Jesus God? How can a loving God send people to hell? Purgatory?

This is a good beginner’s Bible, especially if you’re transitioning from only knowing Bible stories to actually reading and studying the Bible. There are full color page inserts that answer basic Church theology questions. The print on the inserts is very easy to read. The print for the actual Bible text is readable, but the notes under the text are very small and difficult to read. I’m only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because of the print and also because the paperback cover causes a lot of wear and tear.

I like this Bible because if you are looking for scriptural references for a Catholic doctrine it gives some good starting points. Also, if you were looking to start reading more of the Bible reading the Bible the scriptural references might provide oof starting points. While there is nothing too remarkable about about the physical product- no fancy cover or thick pages it does hold up well to regular use.
