At first I liked these prenatals, until my blood test came back that my vitamin levels were off the charts high!!! My doctor was testing me for autoimmune diseases...that’s how worried she was. I went off the vitamins and my levels are slowly going down which is good but I will never take these pills again. So scary, also I had been getting severe stomach cramping and bloating for months and it went away immediately after getting off of these prenatals. Make sure you do your thorough research! This company was bought out by a Monsanto company and are using Synthetic vitamins now, which are so dangerous for your health and the health of your baby growing inside of you. Thankfully I was never pregnant while on these vitamins. Can’t imagine what it would’ve done to a baby.

I did a lot of research on prenatal vitamins and decided to go with New Chapter, however this product is not the same one on the product description/image, it is an OLDER VERSION of the product and for myself and I’m sure for other moms to be, some of these differences are very important. For example the amount of Iron that is advertised is 27mcg and in the bottle that arrived it’s 18mcg. Same goes for Vitamin A it’s advertised as 1300IU and in the one that arrived it’s 5000IU. I’m disappointed with this purchase from this vendor.

Just take them down with water! I will be using these for all future pregnancies and recommending to my pregnant friends as well. Very happy with this product!

I absolutely love these prenatal vitamins! Originally I was using Rainbow One prenatal vitamins prior to becoming pregnant. Rainbow One is much more affordable and has a fairly good ingredient profile. However, it was always my plan to switch to the New Chapter Perfect Prenatal once I found out I was pregnant. I feel like for 9 months, I can afford this multivitamin. The ingredient profile is incredible!

So far I am really enjoying these! They do not cause any discomfort and I have not had any nausea during my pregnancy thus far. At first I was hesitant to taking 3 pills each day, but I've found that taking 2 in the morning and 1 at night works for me. I never forget to take the morning pills, and have a reminder on my phone for the evening pill. Taking one at lunch just doesn't work for my schedule.

With the Rainbow One prenatal vitamin, I did notice my urine was a bright, neon yellow after taking the vitamin. This can be from an excess of vitamin B that your body can't absorb, so it excretes it in your urine. With the New Chapter prenatal vitamin this is not the case. Perhaps this is because I spread the vitamins out throughout the day, or because it is a higher quality vitamin. Regardless, it assures me that my body is absorbing the nutrients appropriately and nothing is going to waste.

With this being said, I can see myself going back to the Rainbow One prenatal vitamins once our baby arrives, as I'm not sure we can afford this price tag during nursing. I eat an extremely healthy diet, so I may even go off prenatal vitamins entirely at that time.

This vitamin was a perfect supplement because you can take it on an empty stomach which I needed with my small appetite in the first trimester.I do have to admit that the smell of the vitamins was a little strong during the first trimester but I got passed that by taking the vitamin with juice. I have continued to take throughout breastfeeding as well to maintain the nutrients in the body and provide nourishment for my babe where I lack in my diet. Overall this is a great supplement for pregnant and nursing moms!

great whole food prenatal

This is a great whole food prenatal vitamin that I could take while I was pregnant and did not have any side-effects of nausea that I would have with other non-whole food prenatal vitamins. I absolutely recommend taking an organic whole food multivitamin before, during and after pregnancy or always. What is great is that you know you are not getting any additives in these that you wouldn't want to put in your system in the first place like aspartame (yes, aspartame is put in vitamins!). This is a great value to purchase these on the internet vs. Whole Foods or a supplement/health store, which I found out runs $80+.
The only con that I have found with these prenatal vitamins is that these are large hard pills and the dosage is 3 pills/day. There is an alternative and comparative brand: Garden of Life, organic whole food vitamins that are in capsules. This brand dosage is also 3 pills/day, but they are capsules and not hard giant pills, making them easier to swallow. When taking these two different types, I did notice I excreted more excess/non absorbed vitamins with the New Chapter compared to the Garden of Life. I'm not sure if this is indicative to the way these supplements are formulated: hard pill vs. capsule or a higher quantity of one type of vitamin over the other. Either way, both these brands are superior to other brands of prenatal vitamins on the market, and I'll venture to say, their lines of vitamins and supplements are most likely superior than all the others too.

False folate claim (insufficient for pregnancy)

It claims it provides sufficient folate, 600 mcg of folate. First, it contains 121 mcg folate, second, it adds 35 mcg folic acid (human made version). So multiple that by 3, it becomes 363 mcg of folate. With the human made folic acid it becomes 468 mcg. Pregnant needs at least 600mcg a day. Pharmaceutical companies need to be transparent and not trick people like this. I am very disappointed.

I took these before, during and after pregnancy. I've taken them on an empty stomach many times and they never upset my stomach. It is recommended on the bottle to take one pill three times a day, some days I forgot to take all three. I think as long as you eat healthy it's no big deal to miss a pills

Found that they didn’t have all the values my doctor was recommended, so had to purchase extra pills to make up for those missing ingredients or amounts.
Flavour wise, it tastes fishy. I was ok with my pregnancy and didn’t have bud sickness, but still wasn’t nice to feel that flavour. A bit big in size, so not great to swallow. Found a bit pricey.

Been using these since Feb and have no issues or side effects from them. I do take an additional 400mcg of folic acid and dha separately however my last shipment, I noticed the packaging and label was different. I also noticed based on the ingredients and amounts, a lot of the ingredients have decreased in amounts with the new production. I was not happy with this and am currently shopping around for prenatals that offer higher dosage amounts.

It’s a shame that the amount of ingredient decreased.
