I owned this book back in the late 80s when I first had a German Shepherd. I was looking into getting a new dog now and wanted to re-read the book but couldn't find it. It had info on both what it's like to own a Shepherd and also alot of back ground on the history of the breed and past champion blood lines. some would think the info was too old being from the 80s, but I enjoyed reading it again.

The New Complete German Shepherd Dog  Although this book is a bit dated(not enough about more current health issues i.e. hips, elbows , digestive problems etc.) it is still worthwhile having in terms of the history (and a very complete one) of the breed. Also includes sections on structure, movement, the AKC standard and imported dogs. I recommend it-really enjoyed reading it.
