This one's a must have for all NE Patriot fans. The book is jammed with terrific photos and Christopher Price has done a commendable job with the writing, leading the reader through the tough early years during the AFL throughout the building of Schaefer Stadium, the first two Super Bowl (which the team lost), and now the dynasty years under Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick. Great stuff for any serious NE sports fan or fan of pro football. Though I had heard all the stories before, to have them in one book makes this one a treasure.

Highly recommended for Patriots and NFL fans.

Excellently written and beautifully embellished with photographs, this book tells the full history of one of the NFL's most endearing football franchises. If you are a Patriots Nation fan there is little here that you don't know but it's great to reread the stories all again and the pictures are the best collection of Patriot's lore assembled under two covers! If you aren't a full fledged fan this book will make you one and it is presented in such a way that you will understand the hardships that had to be faced and eliminated to create such a powerhouse NFL team. Most of all you will appreciate the genius of owner Bob Kraft and how he molded a dream into a football empire. A must read and the type of book that you will reread again and again! Nice job!

Does not cover the inception of the Boston Patriots factually. Cites Billy Sullivan as the original owner.
In fact, Billy Sullivan was only ONE of TEN investors that began the team. This group of businessmen decided to elect him as President, based on his previous PR experience, but all were equal players in the original ownership.

"A Jan. 30, 1960, story by Globe sports editor Jerry Nason reported the news that the Boston Patriots Football Club had been formed by a group of 10 Boston area business and professional men and that the group had selected William H. "Billy" Sullivan of Wellesley as team president. Sullivan, a longtime figure on the Boston sports scene as a manager of Boston College's football teams under coaching legend Frank Leahy and as a public relations man for the old Boston Braves of the National League, was at the time the president of three local businesses: Metropolitan Coal and Oil Co., Petroleum Heat and Power Co., and Frost Coal and Oil Co. He announced the names and affiliations of the other nine founders:

Joseph E. Sullivan of Lowell, owner of a printing business in that city, and Billy Sullivan's uncle; Dominic DiMaggio, retired Red Sox star centerfielder and president of American Latex Corp. of Lawrence; George L. Sargent of Dover, an insurance executive with the O'Brion-Russell firm in Boston; Dean Boylan of Wellesley, president of the Boston Sand and Gravel Co.

Also, Paul Sonnabend of Brookline, vice president with Hotel Corp. of America; John Ames, a lawyer from North Easton and president of the North Easton Savings Bank; Daniel F. Marr of Quincy, president of Marr Scaffolding Co.; L. Edgar Turner of Wellesley, president of the 7-Up Distributors Corp. and owner of two out-of-state Howard Johnson's restaurants; Edward McMann of Sullivan, Maine, president of the Northeast Packing Co."

I bought this for a young man who likes the Patriots. It is a very nice gift for that purpose. The photos and history of the team are well presented. It should be a nice book for him to keep.

I bought this Patriots book as a Christmas gift for my fiance. I was mortified when he opened it, started thumbing through it, and informed me it was a book on the Dallas Cowboys with a Patriots cover! Not sure where the quality control went wrong, but whatever happened, all I know is that the proper item was not sent to me. We look forward to receiving the correct book.
