Vita Ayala & Rod Reis take over from Brisson/Hickman/Reis & knock it out of the park. One of the strongest Marvel books in the Reign of X era, New Mutants has a great cast, emotional storytelling, deep X-lore callbacks & explorations of themes of identity & what it means to be a good person to go with all the superhero action & adventure. Rod Reis pays enough homage to the classic Siwnkiewicz/Claremont New Mutants while also being very much his own style to make this book feel both familiar & refreshingly, well...New. Ayala has such a strong sense of character, emotion & story, I would read this pair of creators o this book for another 100 issues.
