I've wanted a Surface for quite some time. I like my Kindle but it's no where near the tablet I expected it to be. It's unwieldy, Awkward to use, and sucks when typing and using the internet. So I bought the Surface to take a chance and it definitely paid off. Such a big screen yet it's very light weight, It honestly is like having a laptop because I am not limited to mobile versions of sites (such as when getting on an iPod). There is plenty of memory to do things as well. However, I do have a few complaints:

1. The keyboard attachment that is shown off in every commercial is NOT included. Instead it's a 100 dollar add on item..Gotta love that. Wish they had stated in the ads that it is an add on item.

2. The app store sucks. There are not crap for apps on it and the games are very limited. So if you are looking to use this for gaming then you are better off going else where. Heck it doesn't even have popular apps like the og Angry Birds or Minecraft on it.

3. Plugging in the charge can take quite a few tries to get just right. I'd love to see a better charge port for the next surface. It's a minor annoyance but an annoyance none the less.

Either way, It's well worth the buy and I'd definitely recommend it if you want the usefulness of a tablet without the high price tag of a laptop. It's easily better than a Kindle or an iPad but it's simply lacks in the content it needed to thrive.

I personally was a little worried about buying this online especially since seeing all the love it (5 star ratings) or the hate it (1 star ratings) but to me it just depends on if you're pro apple or willing to become accustomed to different ways.
The DOWNside to this tablet is that I had to restart it to get it to do 72 UPDATES!!! That took me about three days to finish because I had to lock the screen, go back in, go to change pc settings and do all that crap over and over. Also, the navigation to personalize your lockscreen and home screen is kinda tricky but everything else you get the hang of it. The camera is also very average but it is expected of a tablet not a Nikon camera lol. One last bad thing is that they used FedEx to ship my stuff and the times they were planning on shipping it were in the middle of the day so i had to drive half an hour to go pick it up from the nearest loading station from FedEx and that was very frustrating. The FedEx people didn't help at all over the phone or negotiate shipping drop off times with me at all!
The UPside to this tablet is that I can do anything I want on it. I can type a paper while doing research on the other side of the screen. I can use netflix on a rainy day, I can read up on news and I personally check the weather every morning before school to plan my outfit around it.The home screen is very clean and polished looking organization-wise and the fact that you can switch colors and the screen auto adjusts lighting, is very cool. You can also swipe on the left side of the screen going right as many times as you want to go back to different apps or web pages. The Xbox music still plays while I work on homework and I dont even need an Xbox or an account for unlimited access to any type of music I wanna listen to.

Almost like a laptop in tablet form. It does most things a lap top will do. However, we have not been able to get chrome or firefox to work with it and I have some web pages with flash that chrome or firefox works best.

I received the Surface RT as a gift, and I tried to make it work and love it so my friends would not have wasted their money. After 2 months, I hate this thing, resent it, and wish I could take a hammer to it because of how limiting it is. I feel terrible they wasted money on it.

Checks email, surfs the web, and the Sky Scanner airfare checking app on it is pretty cool. Otherwise it's useless and requires you to spend money on things you won't use anywhere else.

As a programmer, I hate that I can't get any kind of useful compilers on it at all. As a project manager, I hate that the watered-down version of Excel can not handle certain pivot table features. In trying to make Powerpoint presentations, the touch screen is pretty glitchy and I find myself frustrated I can't get stuff where I want it to be. So it's useless to me for work stuff.

On a personal level, this stupid RT version OS doesn't have a whole lot that IS compatible with it. I'm extremely frustrated that lots of software I like to use (like YNAB for budgeting) is not available for it. For the few things that *are* available as apps, I have to PAY for them? (Pandora) When it's free elsewhere? None of the games I like to play (Clash of Clans, Lords of Waterdeep) are compatible with it. Even just using it to read books or browse magazines sucks because of the touchscreen. There are so many ways to swipe things on/off the screen (assuming it doesn't glitch/skip like it does in powerpoint) that the simple turn-a-page action often interrupts my reading and I have to get back to where I was.

I bought the keyboard with the actual keys to go with it, and it doesn't seem to detect the keyboard when coming out of its sleep mode.
