The usual charge against "orchestral" jazz is that it lacks bite and funk - a charge that's often correct. Not this time, though. Beautifully arranged and played, this album also features great songs and wonderful vocal performances that will move your, uh, emotions as well as your mind. Yup, the songs are mostly ones that even a casual jazz fan has heard many times, but here they are made fresh and new. And besides, the reason we've heard all these songs before is because they are wonderful.

Really top-drawer stuff.
