Once again, David Meerman Scott (DMS) provides us with the latest and greatest in the 8th Edition of The New Rules of Marketing & PR.Having read the 7th Edition, I was curious as to what the latest version would include and what would be taken off the shelf. Technology has changed our lives in almost every possible way and understanding how to reach our clients directly is a critical component of any business today and DMS walks us through the list of Must-Have.DMS has done the work for us in that he has provided an in-depth view into the Marketing Strategies – Tools and Best Practices that we can all benefit from. His astute examples – stories and analysis provide a clear picture of how we can best utilize our Marketing Efforts!I so appreciate how DMS made sure to incorporate those areas that are new to the arena; A.I. | Machine Learning | Social Audio Apps and the increased need for Video just to highlight a few.Whether You have read the 7th Edition or not, I highly recommend the 8th Edition and if you are like me, get your yellow highlighter and sticky notes ready as there will be plenty to take special note of.

Having read the 7th Edition, I was curious as to what the latest version would include and what would be taken off the shelf. Technology has changed our lives in almost every possible way and understanding how to reach our clients directly is a critical component of any business today and DMS walks us through the list of Must-Have.

DMS has done the work for us in that he has provided an in-depth view into the Marketing Strategies – Tools and Best Practices that we can all benefit from. His astute examples – stories and analysis provide a clear picture of how we can best utilize our Marketing Efforts!

I so appreciate how DMS made sure to incorporate those areas that are new to the arena; A.I. | Machine Learning | Social Audio Apps and the increased need for Video just to highlight a few.

Whether You have read the 7th Edition or not, I highly recommend the 8th Edition and if you are like me, get your yellow highlighter and sticky notes ready as there will be plenty to take special note of.

Marketing is like surfing -- there’s always another wave coming. And David Meerman Scott, being a surfer (like me), gets it. He’s been telling us how marketing and PR are changing since he charged out with his first edition back in 2007. That’s when I first met him, when I recruited him to speak to our huge Social Media Breakfast chapter in the Twin Cities. We were all lucky enough to be among the first to get the inaugural edition and benefit early from its advice. David is not only a great speaker, but writes such easy-to-read and understand books! Each addition adds timely advice about new aspects of marketing in our ever-changing world. Be sure to read about “fanocracy” and “newsjacking” in this new 8th edition. But I was especially stoked to read the Introduction — it’s about David’s passion for surfing, and how he became a fan of making his own wood surfboards. There’s always a new wave coming, and David’s on it!
