Works perfectly. Very easy to get pizza on and off the oven/grill. I did give it a treatment with food grade mineral oil. I recommend doing that. Then clean it periodically with vinegar. Then it will last forever.

10 pizzas in and this scoop is holding up pretty well. I cut my pizza on this so it can cool on the wood to keep the crust crisp so I have noticed I am cutting some pizza cutter tracks across the somewhat soft wood of the scoop, but that's just superficial. I have noticed after washing it and letting it air dry it became slightly bowed. I soaked it and placed a towel and some cast iron pots on it overnight and it is almost perfectly flat again. Now, I avoid cleaning it with water and instead run a knife perpendicular to it on the side I was using to remove any pizza crust remnants and then use a very damp cloth to wipe it. No problems since.

I found a couple of pizza stones on clearance at a local craft store--at $12 each, I couldn't resist. Our homemade pizzas immediately went up a few notches, but I found that using a wood cutting board as a makeshift pizza peel was problematic. I just could not get the pizza to slide off smoothly and steadily enough to maintain the round shape I had created.

This pizza peel is perfect for what we need. It is big enough to handle pizzas that pretty much cover our stones. It is sanded extremely smooth and using cornmeal or breadcrumbs makes getting the pizza into the oven practically foolproof. Care is easy: I generally use a damp rag to wipe it down and avoid submerging it in (dish)water.

If you want pizza as good as the pizzeria, use pizza stones. If you use pizza stones, get a pizza peel. If you're going to get a pizza peel, you can do a whole lot worse than this one. The kids love our homemade pizzas as much as anything out there, my wife compares my pizzas favorably to some of her favorite places, and this is one of the tools that helps get the job done right.

This is quite large; consider whether you want a smaller one. It's just as described. Good for taking pizza off a stone. I suggest oiling it with mineral oil or walnut oil--an oil that won't get rancid.

Received my pizza peel today. I chose this one over some of the others offered due to the size of the peel. I wanted the 14 x 16" surface. We make large robust pizzas with some heft to them. We don't skimp on the ingredients. Why would you?

We haven't used it yet, but upon un-boxing, the first thing I noticed was how thin this peel is. The peel I received was a strong 3/8", not the "half inch" as noted in their product description. I realize that when measuring 2 x 4's and other lumber, you know you are not actually getting a nominal 2x4, you get a 1 1/2 x 3 1/2" piece of wood. Yet for convenience sake it is still called a 2x4.

But for a pizza peel, I think they could (and should) represent their product more accurately. I don't think it's an issue worth returning it over. We'll see how this one holds out.

It definitely works, but the peel arrived with 2 noticeable dings in the wood along its edge. Since this is an already porous/lightweight wood, obviously quickly put together, the manufacturers should pack this better, to insure there are no defects upon arrival.

This pizza peel needs to be conditioned with a non-toxic (food-grade) oil before using it & having food stains get into the wood so I haven't used it yet but I am quite impressed with the size! This is not teeny tiny like some of the pizza peels. This will get many years of use so I'm happy that it's such a nice size!
