This album was a rather good album. As always, Vince, Mick, Nikki, they were fine. The only thing I really think changed the sound was Randy Castillo. He was not a bad drummer, far from it, probably one of the best, but he just didn't sound right with Motley Crue. He just didn't seem to have the energy and playing style he did with Ozzy Osbourne. In a way, he kind of reverted back to his "Ultimate Sin" style, rather than his "No Rest For The Wicked" style, which, to me, would have fit this album a little better. It is still a good album. No bad songs on it.

Motley Crue New Tattoo kick's ass!I am one of the biggest Motley Crue fans in the world and can say Vince,Nikki, and Mick went back to what they do best,Rock n' Roll as it should be!No tommy on this effort, but Randy more than made up for the absence. You got awesome punch ya in the mouth tracks like Treat Me Like The Dog I Am,Dragstrip Superstar,Punched In The Teeth By Love, and Fake while you have the classic ballads with New Tattoo and Hollywood Ending. Then you have the just cool rock tracks with Hell On High Heels and Porno Star.Motley went back to being Motley on this effort with sweet guitar licks, solid drumming, edgy bass playing, and awesome singing. If you want to start the millenium out with some solid rock n' roll as it should be then pick this up!Motley Crue Rules!!!

I think this is a pretty good cd. I's good to hear Motley right on track again, but I think that it lacks the energy that came (now it's obvious) from Tommy Lee's playing. I think Randy Castillo (RIP) was a great player but Lee's style was one of the key things that made Motley so great.
After listening to the new tracks that were on the Greatest Hits I spected more from this record, so that's why I only gave it 4 stars.

A really good album. One of the songs was on the CD twice, but it was good.

While Motley is my favorite band, this is not my favorite Crue album but still really good. in a time of turmoil what more could you ask for?

This is easily one of the most underrated albums of the past 15 yrs. You should already own this now with songs like Hell on High Heels,Punched in the teeth by love,First band on the moon, 2 great ballads in the title track and Hollywood ending and my personal favorite Fake this is Motley at there finest

Good time rock n roll!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 24, 2013
A terrific rock album by the Crue! full of smutty lyrics rife with innuendo, great guitar riffs, drumming and good songs! It opens with the supercharged 'Hell on high heels', a nice catchy rock track that reminded this listener of AC DC in the vocal delivery. Following on from that is 'Treat me like the dog I am' a self explanatory title that contains some great drumming by Randy Castillo (sadly now departed). The pace is then slowed down with the title track, a nice rock ballad that tugs on the heartstrings (to this listner echoing Bon Jovi) which could have a double meaning in that it could be interpreted as the singers love for a woman or rock n roll in general hinted at in the back of the sleeve notes. The pace is then sped up with the heavy but catchy 'Dragstrip superstar' (again self explanatory if you listen to the lyrics).
The song 'She needs rock n roll' is a good rock n roll anthem with a nice guitar riff. The acoustic led song 'Hollywood ending' is another nice ballad that has a bluesy feel to it. I also like 'Fake' with its jab at the executive suits at the record labels and is semi-autobiographical with lines like "Spent a million dollars on amphetamines". 'Porno star' is an uptempo punk rocker that tells the story of someone addicted to internet porn with girls making moaning noises in the background, marvelous :-)
The album closes with the cover of The Tubes 1975 hit 'White punks on dope' which finishes the album nicely describing a tale of a middle class surburban kid doing drugs in rebellion. So a very good album and although it only reached no.41 on the Billboard 200 (their lowest placing since their debut), it doesn't matter as this should be picked up by anyone who likes good time rock n roll as this listener does!

With a change of line up for New Tattoo (Randy Castillo replacing Tommy Lee and Vince Neil returning for a Second album replacing John Corabi) some thought Motley crue's sound would change but with Nikki Sixx still at the songwriting helm that wasn't the case, the songs are still catchy as the songs from the band's 80's hayday and randy castillo's drumming is as good as Tommy Lee's if not better.
Not only does Nikki Sixx write all the songs with collaboration with the other band members but he also collaborated with fellow Sixx:AM member James Micheal on five songs on this album.
My personal favourite songs from this album are:-
Hell on High Heels
New Tattoo
Dragstrip Superstar
Fake
Porno Star
if you're thinking of buying this album then i'd recommend you look for the remastered version with the bonus disc recorded live in Salt Lake City as it is value for money

Ihre wirklich Beste CD !
Reviewed in Germany on October 27, 2012

Kein "Fake" - Stimmiges Werk der L.A. Rocker
Reviewed in Germany on January 18, 2019
