Clear instructions and point-specific graphics made it very easy to follow along as well as solve the problem I has having with my document. Solid tips and instructions for writers using MS Word

I was impressed with A New Writer's Guide to Microsoft Word. It's a solid handbook for authors to format Word documents. If you're new to writing, it's a goldmine whether you intend to send it to a publisher or self-publish your book. I've used Word professionally since its earliest versions, yet I learned new tricks I didn't know about -- the author did a fantastic job with her research before writing it, and the effort shows.

As a self-taught Microsoft Word user, for years I only used the basic tools on the tool bar. After reading Kari’s guide I found myself experimenting with different tools to see if I could maneuver through long documents with more skill to make consistent changes, and gosh, it worked! This writer’s guide is jam-packed with tips, tricks, screen shot examples, links and a junk drawer of odds and ends even more advanced Microsoft Word users will find useful. This was such a good experience I’m going to check out some of her fictional stories too!

Very Disappointing

I asked the author how this book differed from WORD books out there. She assured me it broke problems down into more usable, doable instructions. This is not so.

The basics are skimmed over, leaving me with the same problems as before, with no answers. I also wonder about the depth of knowledge about traditional publishing as much of the recommended formatting is generally not accepted by most agents and publishers.

Much information is provided about preparing ms for self-publication. I cannot speak to those sections.

I just wanted basic problems explained with workable, clear solutions. This book doesn’t do it.
