But I am also having the same problems that others have had as far as the fire pass-thru abilities...it just doesn't work. I also use a Seagate FreeAgent external HD. My original set up was that the Voyager was plugged directly into my mac and then the Seagate into the Voyager. With this setup, my computer would recognize the Voyager drive but not the Seagate. This was a simple fix for me as the Seagate also has pass-thru capabilities so I just plugged the Seagate into the mac first and then the Voyager into the Seagate. Both drives were then recognized.
So my only caution would be if you are planning on buying more than one, realize that you may not be able to run both drives with one Firewire into your computer.
I'm doing a shoot in Africa this spring and instead of taking 8 different hard drives and their corresponding power supplies I just have to take two of these docks and my hard drives protected in their hard foam shells. That's a lot easier than having an odd assortment of various sized hard drives and it saves me a a bit of weight. I would highly recommend this product! Its the way to go if you eat up hard drive space like a teenage boy devours food.
From now on I just buy bare HDD and pop in the Q. I connect via eSata to my MacBook Pro's express card slot. Super Fast connection.
