The LED's light up red when a battery is not charged, and green when they are done.
You need to make sure the micro-usb cable is plugged all the way in. It's a little stiff.
BONUS POINTS: You CAN charge batteries off of a battery bank.
This came in handy for me when I was shooting a wedding on two batteries and needed to charge on the go.
Another potential use would be for travelling: Gotta leave your hotel room but your batteries aren't charged? Throw this in your bag!
(I use the KMASHI 10k mAh battery bank.)
CAUTION: Do not force the batteries into the slots, The pins that actually provide charging to the battery are metal while on the battery the ones bordering the female pins are plastic. If you force it, you risk breaking the plastic that helps the pins slot to the correct place.
All in all, a must have accessory, but just a little finicky since you have to be really diligent about how the batteries and micro usb cable are plugged in.
FYI, the batteries "snap" into place so it wouldn't easily fall out of its place. Before testing this charger, I wondered if I were to throw this charger and attached batteries in my backpack, would the batteries fall out without me knowing. Now you all know.
It's nice how the lights change colors depending on charge alerts.
Occasionally, one of the red lights will either flash constantly or will go into a weird cycle of lawn flashes then short flashes. Of course, the bare-bones manual gives no indication of what these flashing lights may mean or how to troubleshoot the device.
Long story short – this to battery charger will at most charge one battery at a time with no rhyme or reason as to which of the two batteries it chooses to charge. Unfortunately, I tested it for the first time one week after the return period ended, so I am stuck with this piece of junk.
Amazon to the rescue! I was shocked by how inexpensive this charger was and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived on time and worked perfectly! It comes with the 2-slot charging port and a USB to Micro-USB charger cord.
Absolutely worth it and would recommend it to friends!

Whilst there is no USB plug included, I’m sure you’ve got other plugs around the house plus your computer that you can charge this through.
Plug 1 or 2 batteries in and wait for the red light to turn green. Whilst I’ve not been monitoring how long it’s taken to charge my original Nikon battery or my replacement batteries, I’ve never felt it was taking to long or was too quick.
There’s lots of different third party chargers around so shop around as there’s bound to be a cheaper price but I’m very happy with this Newmowa EN-EL14 Battery Charge.
The only problem would be that it takes a few seconds for the lights appear and show that it’s charging up. Though I don’t have any exact measurements, it charges up quick from my experience. Do you know what’s even better? It’s available for several batteries (I picked up the NP-FW50) and it’s really cheap too.
I got this a day before it's actual delivery date and it's small, simple and easy. The 2 lights are a lifesaver and this is a lot better than Sony's official charger. It's small so you can pop it in a bag without adding bulk, as long as you tie up the cable. The cable is nice and long as well, great for long trips in my personal experiences.
Overall, it’s a great addition to your photography gear. It’s nothing flashy but it’s the unsung hero that you need. Worth the money.
The Sony's battery slots perfectly in with a satisfying "click" that confirms solid connection.
And the USB charging through this adapter and the included USB cable is actually very quick when connected to a USB3.0 port.
The light shines red when charging, green when done charging - again, nice and simple.
Overall, this charger offers excellent value for money, and it is a worthy investment for any photographer.
Plug is a standard nano USB port, so you can connect this to a portable power bank making things completely portable!
The batteries are a tight fit which is good as it means you could have them charging in your camera bag on location and you wouldn't have to worry about them falling out while moving.
Highly recommended, especially to my fellow Sony A7 shooters! :)
It does all that I required and was very reasonably priced.
The obvious question is why did Sony decide not to include such a charger from the outset, they might have saved themselves a few pound but they have not given the impression of a company that cares for its customers!
