FAQ
Q1: How to choose the correct solar charge controller for your system?
A1: It based on the solar array's current and the solar system's voltage. You should make sure the charge controller can handle the amount of power and current produced by your panels. For example, I have two 100W solar panels one of the Isc is 5.5A and the system voltage is 12V. Two connected in series 5.5*2=11A, 24V system voltage. Then you will need at least 11Amps, However, you need to factor in an additional 25% due to environmental factors. This brings the minimum amps that this charger controller must have to 13.75 amps. In this example, you would need a 24V,≥15A solar charge controller.
Q2: What is difference between PWM and MPPT how to choose?
A2: The main difference between PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charge control devices is that the MPPT devices are more efficient. MPPT charge control devices have 30 % more efficient in charge efficiency according to PWM type. Panel voltage and battery voltage should be matched in PWM systems. In MPPT systems, the panel series are allowed to have a higher voltage than batteries. This means more flexibility for system growth. Depending on your budget, for the small off-grid system(<200W), you can consider PWM for economy. For bigger off-grid system(such as >200W), MPPT is the clear choice.
Q3: Operating and setting?
A3: Left Buttoni) In Setting: Long press- Enter the non-setting page; Short press- Enter the next setting page. ii) Main Level: Long press- Enter the setting page;Short press- Enter the next non-setting page. Right Button i) In Setting: Long press- No function; Short press- To adjust parameter. ii) Main Level: Long press- Load short circuit protection recovery; Short press- Load switch (in manual mode).
Q4: Recover solution from error codes?
A4: E01: Over discharged; recover once the battery voltage return to the normal level. Load is allowed to turn on then. E02: Battery over voltage; recover once the battery voltage return to normal level. E04: Load short circuit. E07: Device over heating; Get the device cooler to decrease the temperature. E10:PV over voltage; To decrease the input voltage.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2023Style: 20A PWM ControllerVerified PurchaseI'm using this on a DIY 120AH lithium battery box. I needed a controller that would fit in a limited space and this unit worked perfectly both in size and operating parameters. Most of the time it's connected to a 160W vehicle rooftop panel, but I also charge it with a 320W solar suitcase with ~42v/10amp output, so it's a perfect match for this controller. I've been using this for almost a year and I am very pleased.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2021Style: 40A Solar ControllerVerified PurchaseUpgraded to this 150v unit from the 100v tracer 4210AN. Should've went with the 150v to start with. It's working good.. I'm happy with it.. 😁
note; page 10 of tracer4215BN manual states "when PV modules are connected in series, the open circuit voltage of PV array must Not exceed 138v (25°c). 150v @ min temp.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2024Style: 20A Solar ControllerVerified PurchaseController did not work out of box. If you want to be let down when you get your solar setup connected and have no signs of life from the this item then go ahead and buy it. Customer support was a joke. Inane questions that I had already addressed. Directions to disconnect and reconnect and then not a bare hint of any kind of apology.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2023Style: 20A PWM ControllerVerified PurchaseThere is no indication in the instructions of what kind of output it provides in volts or amps for the Load. I measure the volts as the same as the battery voltage, but not knowing how many amps this thing will transfer, I will connect directly to the battery for my output. Otherwise it is wired together out on the picnic table for testing, and it seams to be working ok.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2024Style: 40A MPPT Solar ControllerVerified PurchaseNot what I would expect from Newpowa. I tested it with an inexpensive PWM controller that I have used for several months. Same sun, same batteries, same usage, same wiring. The Newpowa should have charged the batteries by midday, in fact the batteries never charged up. After three days, I replaced the Newpowa with my old charge controller and the batteries were charged by midday just as I expected. I don't know what is going on with these but I think they are JUNK! Anyone want one for free???
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2022Style: 20A PWM ControllerVerified PurchaseGreat product but the instructions for the controller were terrible. Just had to hope for the best and try it!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2021Style: 40A Solar ControllerVerified PurchaseI didn't use it, I returned it because I was building a 48 volt system and didn't catch this would not work for 48 v.
I am using Newpowa solar panels, the 12 v 210 watt units, and with a potential of 1680 watts full sun for 8, I got 1655 watts to the charge controller, near perfect even thru 80 feet of cable.

ErnestinaReviewed in the United Kingdom on June 23, 20245.0 out of 5 stars Solid little controller. Worth the money
This is the PWM 10 amp charge controller.
While it is plastic, it feels solid and sturdy, not light and flimsy as one or 2 others we have tried from generic makers.
PWM means it uses Pulse width modulation to regulate the flow.
This is not as efficient as an MPPT but it is cheaper usually to go with this kind and if you just want a controller to keep your 12v or 24 volt battery or gadgets from being overloaded, this will do it .
The instructions feel a bit rushed.
Spelling mistakes etc and the paper and print quality makes it feel more a leaflet than a manual.
Most likely to keep costs down.
Add you battery before the panel for safety.
They suggest installing a fuse between the battery and the controller.
You get 6 fork connectors to crimp to your in and out wires.
The terminals are screw down type and you just lift the flap to secure them with a screw driver.
Easy.
You don't have to have a load.
There are 2 times 5v 2 amp usbs which can be used when its all wired up.
Various button presses to cycle through the options which are laid out in the instructions and really need it in front of you are you work through it.
You can screw the controller to a wall or wooden support using the 4 fixing holes.
Seems worth the asking price of around £18
This is going in the workshop to charge a small 12v batt for running a diesel heater and making use of the usb outputs for small tool charging.
They do various videos of their earlier models online.
