Increasingly, fact & fiction are interwoven, a case in point is a collection from southern Africa during the apartheid era; it was too dangerous to write fact and the simple solution was to write as much fact, as fiction, as possible.
Yet one wonders given the nature of global politics if this is indeed a ‘take’ on what goes on behind closed doors. The breakdown of US society where the mob is left to simply ‘get on with it but don’t go too far’ seems to ring true in both the narcotics and arms industry. The corruption in politics has been hidden for far too long but getting rid of one bad apple is only the tip of the iceberg. Viper & Hawk’s use of their skills and the amazing array of ‘toy’s in her underground armoury denotes a meticulous amount of research. Skills Viper learnt in the ‘Organization’ sounds like those that come out of ‘The Farm’ or Quantico.
But on a more mundane note: why do all these characters only drink bottled water and gallons of coffee? Isn’t US water safe to drink? And they don’t seem to eat except junk food. Of course Viper does indicate she keeps her body clean from junk, does yoga on her deck but still - no cooking, not even the mention of a lettuce leaf.
Author: please, please, when you say ‘Viper is waiting ON Hawk’ - should read, ‘Viper is waiting FOR Hawk’. Waiting on suggests ‘waiting on table’ & is incorrect. Yet I do recognise the US has it’s own rules regarding language/vernacular but it doesn’t translate well for those in the rest of the world.
