"The honest truth is that I wasn't sure I would resonate with this book, because, while I have deep respect for the authors, I am also aware that we have somewhat differing worldviews and theological constructs. But I absolutely loved it -- personal and practical and focused on the right things. As someone who has given my life's work to engaging teenagers with the love of Jesus, I wish every person in every pew would read this book and engage our collective responsibility to the amazing young people in our midst."
Mark Oestreicher - Partner at the Youth Cartel and author of more than 60 books, including Youth Ministry 3.0
"So the Next Generation Will Know is an impassioned call to purposefully pour into our young people and love, train and unleash them with the message and mission of Jesus. As founder and CEO of Dare 2 Share, mobilizing teenagers to know and share their faith is near and dear to my heart. But this book's message also resonates with me on a personal level. Raised in a violent, crime-ridden, inner city family, my own faith journey was deeply impacted as a teenager by the kind of theologically robust, activation-oriented youth group McDowell and Wallace champion within these pages. This practical primer is packed with field-tested ideas that help adults raise the bar for teenagers and nudge them beyond their comfort zone, so they'll grow deeper in their walk with Jesus as they go wider into the world with His message."
Greg Stier - Founder and CEO of Dare 2 Share Ministries
"J.Warner and Sean show us how to develop a deeper relationship with our teens ina digital age and how to walk beside them in their curiosity for the Truth! As parents of 3 boys entering their teen years, this book helps give us the tools to keep a deeper relationship - through God - with our children. I recommend it for anyone with young people in their lives asking the tough questions."

"As a mom to six young men, the practical wisdom gleaned through McDowell and Wallace's compelling research and its implications couldn't be timelier and more needed in the Church. For parents, teachers, leaders, content creators, ministers, and all those who desire to see future Christ-followers walk with clarity and conviction, So The Next Generation Will Know is a must-read."

The book is organized around the them of love. The title of each chapter begins with the word "love" and the content focuses on the loving response to the next generation (Generation Z). The preface is "Love Sacrifices," which reminds the reader that when we love someone, we sacrifice our own desires for what is best for the other person. For instance, as a parent, I could sacrifice my desire to watch Netflix so that I can teach my kids about the Bible.
Section 1 of the book emphasizes showing love to the next generation. Chapter 1 (Love Responds) outlines the problems Generation Z faces and why it is so difficult to reach them. Chapter 2 (Love Understands) helps the reader understand Gen Z better on a personal level. Chapter 3 (Love Relates) provides a plethora of ways adults can connect with the teens in their lives. Chapter 4 (Love Equips) introduces the idea of a worldview and starts to lay the foundation for helping kids develop a Christian worldview.
Section 2 builds on the foundation in the previous section and chapter and begins to give practical ideas for how we can better train our youth for the challenges to their faith that they will face as they become adults (if they're not already facing these challenges). Chapter 5 (Love Ignites) addresses the issue of apathy towards spiritual matters to help ignite a passion for thinking and talking about God (regardless of the person believes or not). Chapter 6 (Love Trains) gives a basic model for how adults can start to train youths for spiritual maturity instead of merely trying to entertain them. Chapter 7 (Love Explores) provides a variety of activities, ranging from a few hours to several days, for how leaders can give their youths actual experience in the world so they can explore and strengthen their faith. Chapter 8 (Love Engages) is somewhat of a conclusion which draws attention to ways people can engage in spiritual conversations and growth opportunities through everyday events such as movies and social media.
The book wraps up with a postscript (Love Begins), which reminds the reader that even though they gave a lot of ideas in the book, the best way to proceed is by starting. The point is that we should not worry about doing everything perfectly, but we should get started and try to improve as we go along, otherwise we will never get started. This is followed by an appendix (they should have named is something like Love Supports :-) ... but they didn't), which provides a great list of resources for people to get started.
I just finished this book and I already ordered several more copies for youth leaders/teachers/parents that I know and a couple copies of the participant's guide. If you know anyone in Generation Z (born 2000 to present), you will benefit from reading this book, as will the person or people you are leading.
