Three generations of women, who you may perhaps forthrightly see yourself or a woman you may know in one of them. I hadn't heard of Author, Mrs. Lewis-Giggetts, until I came across postings of her latest novel on both Victoria Christopher Murray and Reshonda Tate Billingsley author Facebook pages. As an avid reader, I'm always on the lookout for something to read, irrespective of genre, regardless if the book was self or majorly published fifteen years or fifteen days ago. I must say, I am so glad I came across those postings, because Mrs. Lewis-Giggetts, style of writing is a refreshing change in African-American creative writing.
The 'Gospel of Grace Women' series is self - reflecting fiction novels from that individual woman. The sense of hearing is from that woman's inner theories of their life, therefore largely of each novel, as a result, will have sections that may seem verbose. Besides, the lengthy portions, this doesn't an anyway take away in my point of view the message that my spirit displayed after each novel, after finishing the complete series, and that was; Stop running away from God! 2 Peter 3:9. From time to time, we may run away from God because we feel it's our own plan(s) that is getting us where we want to be rapidly. However, I know this is a hard pill to swallow, but God's plan(s) may have many uneven roads, many obstacles, but the journey along the way will be beyond price if you follow his.
In addition, from my perspective, you don't have to read the 'Gospel of Grace Women' Trilogy in sequence. The author has done a marvelous task, capturing each novel to where you could read one before the other, and not feel a loss of sense with the character, as if you missed some of the action.
(1st) The Gospel According to Sasha Renee ♥♥♥♥
(2nd) Interruption: The Gospel According to Crystal Justine ♥♥♥♥
(3rd) The Next Thing is Joy: The Gospel According to Vivian Grace ♥♥♥♥♥
Tracey Michae'l Lewis' latest work; The Next Thing is Joy, is exactly the kind of literature people should be reading. It's not chick lit, or a beach read, because it really transports the reader to a different place and time.
You feel the character's emotions and angst. Sometimes, I wanted to shake Vivian by her shoulders and tell her to, 'Wake up!' Other times, my heart broke for her because I know other women that have suffered like she did.
This is a great read and I look forward to more work from Lewis.
The main character "Vivian" is young, timid, and confused. But the author takes you though her journey of life situations and you see her find her voice & her purpose. I love this journey and the truth she had to find!
Great book...great story...I want to see more!
This last book was powerful. Sasha and Crystal both received their strength
from Vivian. The songs at the begining of the chapters took me back to the
'70's. Since I am a child of that era I was singing thru the chapters with Vivian.
I could sometimes see my own life thru her. This is a book for people who like
to read well thought out books. If you are that person, you will enjoy this book.
I also recommend the two previous books, Gospel According to Sasha Renee and
Gospel According to Crystal Justine. You do not have to read them in order.
