On a side note, here's how my purchase went.
1. After accidentally using my recently expired debit card I hadn't taken off my account, I was charged and sent two tablets. I'll be checking my order details as a future precaution. The app took me back to the product screen instead of the checkout once I entered the new card number so I went ahead and ordered it as I had done previously. It created 2 separate orders despite only having one in my cart. The previous on the expired card and the second order which was the only one visible. As I said, I'll be checking my orders more closely especially when using 3rd party sellers.
2. The worst mistake was believing the videos I was watching on YouTube that kept referring to the 2013 models as if they all were Sim compatible. I was searching specifically for that feature on a tablet to watch movies, youtube, and sports during down times on my business trips without the hassle of tethering with my phone and running it's battery down also.
Due to my own oversight and some bad luck, I not only own one tablet I won't be using..but two. I've now purchased an LTE model tablet that covers my original needs and more.
No, I will not be returning or asking for a refund as the product works as intended. I'm sure the second tablet works as well. It has left me with my first negative experience with Amazon after years of being a customer and prime member though.
I bought this in September 2014 after considerable research--the full HD screen closed the deal for me. At the time, I wasn't sure if I needed a tablet, or would even like using one; it was pretty much on a whim. Well boy has my point of view changed! This thing IS my TV set.
I use it for browsing, Facebook, messaging, email, Skype, Youtube and Netflix. And it has performed excellently, always pushing HD output to the screen when other devices stall, buffer, and demand to have the resolution lowered to continue playback. Physical design is good and functional.
Today I own an Asus TF700T (another beautiful screen and amazing component quality), a Nextbook 10.1" as my "workhorse laptop", and this tablet--in addition to a tower for video editing, web design and other activities where I need more processing power and a bigger display. I would buy the Nexus 7 again; and in fact, I have as I accidentally sat on the thing a few months back and had to buy another screen. (Mental note: never put anything in your back pocket, no matter how overloaded your hands are on the way to the car. Make multiple trips: it'll cost you less.) Well worth the investment and one of the best tablets money can buy--absolutely the best in the 7-8" range...to this day.
