At the end of Volume 1, it appeared that something had drastically changed in the dynamics of the group staying at the nice house on the lake. And it has: Walter has altered the memories of everyone in the group except himself and Norah. Norah, still in possession of knowledge of what's been happening, has been moved to and imprisoned in the black house on the other side of the lake, which no one else remembers. All memories of Norah having ever been with the main group are gone; they're wondering why she never showed up. Walter's other ten guests remember Walter as having been a member of the group since the start and are no longer aware that Walter isn't human. They no longer know they can't die, and they don't realize that the apocalypse has hit the rest of the planet. They think Reg has been in the main house since day one, and even Reg remembers things as having been this way. They do know they're trapped in the giant space surrounding the lake and, with Walter playing along, they're trying to find a way out and trying to re-establish contact with the outside world. It would appear that Walter has finally made his plan of a utopian, safe-from-apocalypse hideaway for his favorite humans work. But members of the group are starting to question why certain things don't add up, and as they continue to explore their environment, chances increase that someone's going to find the black house again. And why has Walter left Norah's memories intact and imprisoned her instead of simply altering her mind too and keeping her there with the rest of them in the luxurious nice house?
I don't think I'll go too much farther into what else happens. The big question with Volume 2 was, for me, were they going to be able to keep it at that level for the rest of the series and match the revelations and twists and turns from Volume 1. The answer is yes. Taken together, The Nice House On The Lake Volumes 1 and 2 are among the best comic book reading experiences out there. 10/10
As for the actual purchase of the book, it arrived quickly and in great shape. Would buy from vendor again.
