Top Customer Reviews
The Purells are the least expensive wipes I've found... and are also provided by a lot of employers. To avoid the look of impropriety, I decided to switch the brand I carry around. The Sani-Hands are my first alternate choice.
Sani-Hands packets are about the same size, just barely thicker, than the Purells. They cost about twice as much, but that's still very little. The wipe is a little bit larger, thicker and softer. The softness is nice. The gel is also more slippery and apparently moisturizing. If the price difference was really noticable, I'd stay with the Purell, but really we're talking so little money that the extra size and feel is worth it.
1. Texture is not too papery but is not that fuzzy texture that I have seen with other wipes. Has the perfect texture to remove grime instead of just spreading it around.
2. Good amount of liquid - not dripping wet but very close to it.
3. Sturdy packages that hold up to being carried around without drying out.
4. Good size (5"x8") while still being in a small package (2" x 2 1/4").
5. Does not leave your skin excessively dry but also does not leave any sticky residue.
6. No perfume - just the strong alcohol smell which dissipates quickly.
For anyone interested, here is the ingredient list from the box:
Alcohol 65.9% by volume
Water, Propylene glycol, Glycerin, Carbomer, Aminomethyl propanol, Alow barbadensis leaf juice, Tocopheryl acetate.
This version is also noticeably "wetter", which is not always such a good thing because it takes a longer time for your hands to air-dry. These also dry my skin out more than the retail version does.
There is considerable confusion about the "Sani-Hands" brand products available. You will find the following:
SANI-HANDS FOR KIDS : These are available in retail stores including ToysRus/BabiesRus and some supermarket chains. The package logo is the word "sani" inside a black teardrop shape; below the logo in small print are the words "Professional Brand". On the back of each packet is indicated "Manufactured for NIce Pak Products Inc." These have the soft fabric-like Tencel. The alcohol content is given as 65.9% on the packaging.
SANI-HANDS: this is the exact same product as the foregoing, but does not have the "kids" packaging. Otherwise they are identical, and priced the same.
THIS PRODUCT is NOT the same as the other two, even though the product name is also "Sani-Hands". The material is very different and the wipes themselves are wetter. The packaging does say "Now 70% alcohol by volume" which may account for the wetness difference (the retail product is 65.9%).
Before ordering, I tried to contact the manufacturer to ask what the differences were between these 3 products because I wanted to make sure I was getting the exact same thing. I never received a reply. I dislike these so much in comparison to the retail version that I ended up tossing out most of the box and picking up more of the standard version at BabiesRUs, because I found this version annoying to use.
Yesterday, a water main break forced us to boil water for God knows how long. These wipes are great to have in the house and are alcohol-based (which is recommended for hand washing during a Boil Water Order - unless you want to use bottled water or pre-boiled water every time you wash your hands).
Keep them in your car and in your home emergency kit!
