These are as pictured/described and work great for the double set of semi-sheer linen blend curtains I am using them to tie back. We have midcentury pine hardwoods and some oak finish furniture in the same room; the finish on these is in between the two and looks classic yet unobtrusive. The hinges, etc are good quality and have held up to daily use.

Wanted to love these. Truly. In concept, they're perfect. Nice, simple, etc. I still want to love them - so much so that I am thinking of ways to overcome the challenge of their weight.

Not sure why so many reviewers state that the magnets are strong. From my experience, the magnets might as well not be there at all. To me, it's the tension of the strong hinge that does the work. The photo of the tie back used for half the curtain, while a wonderful design idea, is silly. I can't imagine these heavy tie backs working like this with the (from what I'm seeing) non-existent force of the magnets.

Still, they're attractive and, when a lot of curtain is bunched inside them, they seem like they might not slide down, off, and fall on the floor.

If I had really thick curtains with the black-out backing (that almost rubber feel to them), I imagine they would give me a better result. I have thick linen curtains but not with that backing. So even though I bunched a lot of the linen fabric into the tie back, I am waiting to hear a noise of something falling in my den.

If they do, I'll update the review.

I would still highly recommend these for anyone with the "right" sort of curtain to help them stay in place. They're otherwise better than fair quality (wish they had an option for walnut instead of just oak). Do consider these if you have the ideal curtains to make them work. Certainly worth the money.
