The story of the doomed Romanovs: the Tsar Nicholas political naïveté, Alexandra's obsession with the corrupt Rasputin and the struggle with Alexis' hemophilia, and hemorrhages
Top customer reviews
This book, while dated, is a trove of information on the Romanov Dynasty, Russia pre and post revolution, Rasputin and his influence, and at the heart of this narrative the two people who loved each other and their children fiercely, were humanly flawed, and caught in lives that I'm sure they would have happily traded for anonymity.
A wonderful starting point, I think, for anyone interested in this subject.
A truly great read.
His books on Peter the Great and Catherine the Great are also excellent.
Next up: Rasputin.
