Throughout the time he was in the Army he kept very small sketchbooks in which he used pen and ink and watercolor to illustrate the experiences of him and his buddies. The artwork goes from rough to exquisite... one photo almost looks like a photograph! But many of the illustrations show the skills that Cardy would be known for during the silver age of comics.
This book does an excellent job of reproducing the sketches from Cardy's pads, putting them on a black background. It also includes many great photos from his time in Third Armored Division.
his WW2 experiences captured in his sketches truly show
the degree of depth and emotions he experienced in ww2
The man is truly extraordinary and he has carried on this
with his artworks in early EC titles and the silver age
marvel and DC titles as well
The man deserves a leading position among his peers like
wally wood jack davis harvey kurtzman will eisner.
No true ww2 artwork collector should miss out on this great
gem of a book
