After trying to decide by reviews between then them, I picked up both Nickelodeon Dance 2 and Just Dance: Disney Party for my daughters. While Disney definitely has better graphics and moves, Nick Dance is much simpler and more forgiving. This is especially important for my youngest and for visiting youngsters who may not be as familiar with the Kinect interfaces.

From the ability to skip a song if they decide they don't like it, to mixing it up with "freeze" mode, to a variety of age-group characters from Bubble Guppies and Dora on the young end to older-kid favorites like The Fresh Beat Band, Nick Dance is a really great Kinect choice for kids and family. It's also coded to drop a player if they walk away (as youngsters sometimes do), rather than freeze the game like many other dance titles.

While both titles get played regularly at our house, Nick Dance is much more popular with the youngest kids and our go-to for first-time Kinecters. If you're only getting one, this would be my recommendation.

Here's what I want the Nickelodeon Dance series to do. I want to turn it on. I want it to start playing songs and having various Nick Jr. characters dance. And then I want to let my three-year old dance and have fun while I go read the paper.

Here's the realilty. I need to stand there the whole time making 50 different choices to make it work, and then listen to Dora tell my kid 100 times that he's not standing in the right space.

The people who built this must feel like kids are actually going to care about the scoring methodology for their dance competition. Maybe that makes them feel better about their lives, that their coding a computer game for three year olds to dance with a computer-generated Twist from the Fresh Beat Band. BUT NO ONE CARES.

They should treat this like a DVD of dancing Nick characters and just let it play. Would be much better.

Very hard for a young child to navigate. We have the Disney video and you can select continuous play which is so nice for young kids. This game you need to step in after each song and pick another song. For kids 5+ that might work....but for the younger ones they cannot navigate it themselves.

My 4 year old likes this game. It gets him moving, but I notice that this game pretty much has no sensor? It does but it really doesn't. It lets him have 3 stars just from fidgeting around and from that, it really won't teach him as much. Regardless, this teach and help kids to work on their body coordination. He plays Just Dance 3 with me but he finds it rather hard, but that's how I got him started. What's fun about this is the songs, it's the same song he grew up listening to from Nickelodeon, so he's familiar with them and much easier for him to dance along to.

The kids love this game. My 3 year old has difficulty keeping up but my 5 year old dances her heart away. It's a good form of exercise in inclement weather. I wish there were more options with songs and sometimes Kinect is difficult to manage (Xbox 360) due to my 3 year old tendency to move around..

My 5 year old said this was ok. Might be a nice starter game for a 2 or 3 year old. Seems a little babyish for any kids older than that. She's a fan of all the characters too but wasn't interesting or fun enough for her.

At the initial start of the game it has a really really long tutorial. thank God you only have to go through it once to access the game. The kids love dancing with their fav characters so its not bad in my books.

The game is decent. The whole family doesn't mind playing it. The only down side is that you can't select someone else other than Dora. I'd rather be able to switch it to the Fresh Beat Band or have the voices cycle but it's always Dora...so annoying!
