Jill Swanson has been in love with her big brother's best friend for as long as she can remember. While the relationship they had was off and on, spanning many years it was very loving but in no way exclusive and that was all because of Nico's insistence to remain unattached. Nico broke Jill's hear repeatedly but was always forgiven until Jill had to start thinking about more than just her well being and said enough is enough. While Jill was pregnant with his daughter Nico once again let her down and ended up starting a chain reaction that lead to the demise of their relationship permanently. Jill still loves the father of her child but has not seen or heard his voice since that fateful day and plans on it remaining that way no matter how much her heart hurts in the process.
Nico Bianchi is a world class jerk and still can't believe he broke the women he loves more than life itself. The day Jill came to his apartment was the day Nico turned his life around and decided he need to seek treatment for all his demons once and for all. Nico yearns for Jill and their beautiful daughter Nicola but still feels the pain of her telling him to get lost so once his treatment is over he moves home to Umbria Italy to continue being the man his girls need him to be. Nico has reasons for the way he acted and behaved regardless of their validity he is hoping once he explains everything to Jill he can fight to have his HEA with his family.
I did enjoy this story but it was a much slower pace than book one and seemed to drag a bit in parts. This series on a whole though is quite entertaining and easy to see why it's called the Heartbreakers :)
Can't wait for Mila's book keep'm coming 😘😘😘
I am not sure what to think. This was definitely not my type of book, but that is just me, my opinion.. which has nothing to do with if the book is 'good' or not. I did finish it, but I just could not get into it as well as I would have liked.. It is well-written, has a flow that makes the story understandable. I just could not understand why the characters made the choices they did and the consequences, or lack of.. This book will not keep me from pursuing other work(s) from Ms. Grace.
This is the second book in the series but can very easily be read as a stand alone.
I just don't know, it kind of felt bitty, rushed, illogical.
His excuse for treating Jill like crap, why he didn't talk it through with his best friend, why he ran away after he got clean. All a bit too feeble.
I'm not sure I've ever come across a baby who at just 1 year old could talk. Walk...yes..talk...not so much. I kept forgetting she was so young and had to stop and back track to make sure I wasn't missing something. Also, for a 16 year old to love Nico, despite his misdeeds, I get that but to carry on like that for 16 years and not have the guts to step as far away as possible?! Even before she fell pregnant?! Makes for a weak heroin in my opinion and I just didn't care for her.
I didn't like any of the characters very much, their reactions to the situations they found themselves didnt come across as emotional enough for me.
I liked the fact it was a bit different to the norm and tackled some real life issues, all be it a little hard to get my head round.
Generally though, with a bit of finesse I think it would be a great read for those of us who don't mind this kind of ill moraled story of hard fought love.
That is awful! Trust me but the event that takes place immediately after is enough of a wake up call for Nico that he asks Gabe, Jill's brother and his best friend, for help. We fast forward a bit and Jill is asked to go to Italy by Nico's mother. She knows that Nico is there and in the end decides that he needs to meet and know his child. It is there that we learn of Nico's demons and the problems he had. While there times I wanted to slap Nico I wanted to punch his sister at first. She was hateful! All in all this could easily be anyone's story and I can't wait for the next one. I loved this one as much as I loved Gabe.
