About the Author
Beatricia Sagar is a well-established abstract painter influenced by art movements including art expressionism, pop, graffiti, and collage. Sagar’s work reflects and resonates with the ever-changing cultural milieu of Manhattan where she lived for many years. She is curious and fascinated by the trends in art, fashion, film, TV, and literature.
Sagar relocated to South Beach, Florida, in 1998 where she had a residency at the South Florida Art Center. In 2013 and 2014, she produced “Pin Up Pop Up Poetry” in conjunction with O’Miami. In 2015, she won a poetry slam at the New Hope Art Center.

What stood out, perhaps most of all, was the author’s ability to move fluidly back and forth from masculine mentality to feminine emotion, revealing the interconnected ever-present relevancy of both - separate from gender. In a time and media-climate when we are constantly questioning sexuality and its exploitation, this book represented it as a human, cathartic, reflection for soul-searching. The novel was exactly what I was looking for- both reflective while accessible, emotionally engaging and action-packed.
The author sets up the story’s central challenges – navigating the mystery of love, intimacy and carnal desire as effected by the well-defined and very different personalities of its two main characters – with a deft hand and open heart. In the end, all of the characters in ‘Foreplay’ become like friends we’ve yet to meet but somehow have always known.
This book will be on your mind long after the last page is turned.
This is my second time reading this book, and each time I have found that at some point during my day, I want to drop what I'm doing, head home & drop into their lives. Their lives are my life, and I relate to all of them. There is something wonderfully refreshing, yet simple here, intimate in the friendships & healing in her characters & pages.
It's truly magical.
who felt authentic and compelling. I enjoyed following the growth and maturity in the two main, male characters. The women they become involved were interesting and dynamic. It is very visual and I think it would make a great film.
two sides of a different coin, told with all its expected
and unexpected windows hallways fortunes and
misfortunes resolved and unresolved through a
modern prism covering the complete spectrum of
colors and emotions between black and white.
In one hand it is simple because there is a common language that makes you feel part of what you are reading. On the other hand, it's complex because the author seam to use her personal life in the character she is portraying in the book, the sensibility of a woman in a male character, the sensibility of a man in a female character.
I had a great time reading this book.
