Superb quality vanilla powder!!! But the container on the other hand is not up to standard. All I did was take the cap of to remove the seal and the cap cracked and fell apart. I lost some vanilla powder because of it. I now have to keep the container in a ziplock bag to prevent losing any more product.

This vanilla powder is not full of sugar, as many others are. The grind on the vanilla is finer, so there's not a "grit" issue. I use it for bread baking and it packs plenty of vanilla flavor without making the baked goods overly sweet. The price of vanilla (like many other things) has gone up sharply over the past few years. This stuff is pricey, but you're paying for vanilla, not vanilla and sugar.

I am going to account the negative reviews with lack of flavor, lack of vanilla smell and chemical taste to a bad batch because I have been using this for years with great results. I have become the go to baker at my daughter's school and I can attribute it to this for my baked goods, primarily cinnamon rolls and vanilla powdered sugar. I put some in my daughter's oatmeal and didn't put it up, came back to see it was used, apparently she wanted to make her oatmeal taste better, needless to say she made he oatmeal taste like vanilla icecream lol. I love it and when it goes on sale I get a couple of containers to have me set till the next sale because it is a bit pricey. For those concerned of the maltodextrin, it is used do extend shelf life, extend the flavor better of the ground vanilla and prevent it from caking. I prefer it is used versus copius amount of sugar, I can make vanilla sugar at home and these other brands, that's all they have to offer. I will say if you are investing in it make sure you have some recipes in mind that you would want to us specifically for powder and not just a substitute for vanilla extract.

Beautiful presentation box (the packaging is every bit as fancy as a perfume box). Wonderful aroma and flavor. Vanilla is a bit expensive right now but this company has about the best "standard good vanilla" available on a wide scale. I put a tiny bit of this powdered vanilla in dry homemade instant oatmeal packets.

Did a blind taste test on my husband with cookies. One batch with this vanilla, one batch with vanilla powder bought in bulk from the Good Food Store here in Missoula which costs less than 1/10 the price (but I did use twice as much in the recipe). No noticeable difference in flavor. Same result in pumpkin pie, pancakes, banana bread and waffles. Maybe there is a recipe where it would make a difference, but I don't know what that would be.

I purchased this to make my own shortbread cookies in a jar and give them away for the holidays. I have to admit, I was neverous about using a powdered vanilla and even more neverous about how my gift jars would turn out with this product. I put my jars together, test baked and they turned out perfect. I can't tell you if this product flavor weakens with time as it is a concern when I am making cookies or brownies in a jar for gifts.

I've been using this powder for a long time. It's great. It's a quality product. But the fact that it's $37.00 a bottle, and the size of a standard spice bottle is nuts. I put this in my coffee every day. So I buy at least one bottle a month. That said, I've read that vanilla is the "most labor-intensive crop in the world which is why it's only second in price to saffron".. So I guess it is what it is.
